Hi , 11th day after period falls in fertile phase, so chances of getting pregnancy are higher. If you don't want pregnancy, you still can have ipill/ unwanted pill 72, an emergency pill if you have not crossed the 72 hours limit yet.

Hi, abdominal binder is definitely not a perfect solution of" pregnancy pouch. Breast feeding, diet control & exercise has major role to get back near normal shape. Breast feeding burn extra calories and also trigger muscular contractraction. Making it a workout for the whole body. Exercise has a good option to reduce belly but it must be with doctor's consent & under expert supervision in post caesarean cases. Control diet means to choose proper diet according to individual body needs diet must be rich in protein & fiber but low in fat and calories. But don't go on a severe diet as it will affect breast feeding and will put the body in starvation mode so will ultimately affect the health of baby and mother both. So don't panic and go slow and take care of health.

Dear Dr. I am 25 years old girl. I want to know whether there is a permanent treatment for pcos. Can a girl with pcos become a mother. Is this problem common these days in girl. Is this a very big problem and will there be any problem in conceiving.

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Ludhiana
Hi, pcod is a hormonal disorder, very common nowadays and modern lifestyle has important role in it's etiology. Although permanent cure is not possible but can be controlled to some extent with regular & prolonged treatment. With treatment, pregnancy is also possible. Treatment involves lifestyle changes, weight loss, exercise and hormone therapy under supervision.

Hi, this is a very good question, every parent must ask. Every girl must learn the basics of menstrual hygiene so to avoid infection. She should follow _ 1- bathe at least once a day to clean herself & avoid odor. 2- cleaning of vaginal area and hands properly & frequently. Always wash vagina externally, with mild soap specially formulated for this purpose. 3- vagina must be cleaned from front to back and try to keep vaginal and anal wiping separate. Cleaning of vagina from back to front will increase the risk of vaginal and urinary track infection. 4- frequently change sanitary pads as dampness will irritate skin and will promote infection. 5- don't use same brand of sanitary pad for long duration. 6- avoid tight clothes & synthetic fabric as these will irritate skin and will increase dampness. Wear cotton & loose fitting clothing to stay fresh and dry. This care must be followed all through the month also.

Hi, feeling of heaviness in lower abdomen is common feature in pregnancy and it's due to pressure effect of enlarged uterus on adjacent organs. To avoid/ eliminate this one must avoid prolonged standing, hactic activity, any downward straining e. G. Constipation, coughing etc. Take frequent small breaks to take rest and while resting keep feet raised. Regular prenatal check up is must to rule out any problem.

Hi, please send your semen analysis report as besides sperm count, sperm motality and morphology is also important. Low sperm count can be improved by - 1- avoiding overheating of testicles by wearing loose & cotton clothes. Avoid hot baths. Avoid heat exposure while using laptop. 2- use jockstrap while playing outdoor games so to avoid injury by blow of ball. 3- reduce mental stress. 4- stop smoking, alcohol and unnecessary medication. 5- avoid direct contact with chemicals at home and at work place e. G. Pesticides, herbicides, cleansing solutions etc. 6- improve diet & exercise regime. 7- take herbal supplements to improve sperm count.

Hi baby's heart beat can be detected in ultrasound, between 5-7 weeks but if it is not detected at this time, doctor usually advice to wait for 10-15 days and repeat ultrasound as it's quite possible that 2nd ultrasound may show heart beat

Hi , you are just 21yrs and 6 months is not a long time so don't worry. There is nothing like hot body and don't start any medication unnecessarily. First of all start taking folic acid tab. Start keeping record of pattern of your menstrual periods that will help to calculate fertile phase and make best use of fertile phase, this will definitely help you. Try this for minimum 3 months, if no response, again contact me.

Hi, delayed periods at young age is due to hormonal imbalance and need to be investigated. Get done your 1- complete blood examination 2- hormone profile 3- ultrasound abdomen, and check your weight & height. You shouldn't delay the treatment as this type of hormonal problems.
