Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or more may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used in children during a viral illness. -Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and donot overdress. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause dehydration.Drink plenty of fluids.Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before meals, or after returning from a public places or using public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

I am 16 year old male with height of 5' 9" and weight of 62 Kgs. At present I'm suffering from "tonsil" infection for which swallowing is painful and "tonsil" is bit enlarged it seems (not very sure, as in the normal condition never feel its original size). I'm studying in class XII and don't like to loose my academic sessions. Please suggest useful remedy/medicine for speedy recovery apart from hot water gargling.

Hello Doctor, Can I drink cold (not too much cold) pasteurised milk? What are the pros and cons of this? Thank you.

Hello Doctor, Can I drink cold (not too much cold) pasteurised milk? What are the pros and cons of this? Thank you.
Cold pasteurised milk does no harm. You can drink it. Actually warm milk is heavy and takes time to digest. but people boil the milk to kill its bacterias in it. If the milk is pasteurized then there is no harm in drinking it, only if you are not sensitive to cold things.

My wife is not willing to have intercourse till now it's nearly 2 months of marriage. She says she is scared of pain intercourse may cause and doesn't say anything else. Once I found that she was searching on internet about vaginal infection. I want to understand how to overcome this situation. Which specialist to consult?

My wife is not willing to have intercourse till now it's nearly 2 months of marriage. She says she is scared of pain ...
Yes, This is a tricky situation for you. There are definite solutions and the probable cause is known to you that your wife is scared of sexual intercourse due to possible thought of pain. This is very very common situation in many couples and some of them are able to overcome this by developing proper understanding between husband and wife. The reason behind this is that usually by and large people learn sexuality by hearsay guidance by friends and relatives and by watching porn and that's beginning of the problem. People who are already married may know half-truths and have incomplete knowledge of sexuality. Now if your wife is searching internet for vaginal infection then even she is wanting to solve it and somebody known to her may have told her that she may be having Vaginal infection. And so she is searching this. Stop all this and connect directly either online or in person to express your issues along with your wife. Fear of sexual intercourse pain can cause frigidity and that will interfere in normal sexual relationships. Both of you need authentic understanding of basics of sexuality. Just relax and connect before making half-hearted attempts of sexual intercourse, because repeated failures would complicate the matter further. All the best.
