You can be having some infection or just routine viral & cold. It is not necessary that every fever will be rheumatic fever. So instead of making pre-sumptions, it will be best to go and consult a cardiologist & internal medicine specialist. Get a echo done to rule out any valve related infection and a CBC-diff, CRP, ESR, urine r/m & culture and consult a cardiologist with these reports.

Hello, Since a week I have been getting dizzy spells and fatigue. My hemoglobin is low <10 n bp is 80/60. I consume home made food on time and exercise moderately everyday. Recently I have been getting red sticky vaginal fluid since few days & suffer slight irritation in the vagina. My periods are totally normal. So is low bp & haemoglobin affecting my health? Is the low Bp to be blamed for the current conditions?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Cardiology, Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS - Physician )
Cardiologist, Delhi
Low hemoglobin implies blood loss from somewhere in body and it is one of the most common causes of low BP and you should take this seriously. Consult a local internal medicine specialist in person as soon as possible and follow their advice for treatment.

My father's age is 63. He has pacemaker in heart since last 10 years. Now he is suffering from low sugar. When sugar starts to fall he can't understand and become sense less. His creatinine level is 4.3 .So what is to be done? Is dialysis needed?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Cardiology, Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS - Physician )
Cardiologist, Delhi
Please ensure that his pacemaker is functioning fine by getting his pacemaker checked for battery life etc and consult a cardiologist, it is quite possible that what you may be attributing to low sugar may be due to malfunction in pacemaker. If pacemaker is functioning fine then As far as sugar and creatinine are concerned please consult an endocrinologist and nehprologist and follow their advice.

If a patient has had history of angina in the past and has an episode of unconsciousness it requires urgent and detailed evaluation. A new heart attack or some rhythm abnormality like AF or VT or complete heart block can be the reasons, so it will be best to take the person to a cardiologist and get detailed cardiac evaluation done which should include, ecg, echo, cardiac enzymes and angiography without any delay.

As per your history, your wife is experiencing symptom of dizziness, in this scenario this BP is low and is probably causing her symptoms. There can be many reasons for low BP some as simple as as low haemoglobin or vitamin or iron deficiency or dehydration, others can be due to some diseases like hypothyroid, heart problems or infection etc. So it will be best if you get her evaluated once by a internal medicine specialist to find out what may be causing this low BP so that proper treatment can be started and at the same time start drinking lot of water & oral fluids like coconut water, nimbu pani, juices etc and avoid dehydration.

Is 60/90 reading for BP really low? What should be done to improve this other than consuming coffee n extra salt? I am 33 year old female and my BP has been low continuously.

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine, DM - Cardiology, Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS - Physician )
Cardiologist, Delhi
Normal BP is 120/80 mmHg, quite a few people routinely have BP less than this, but it is labelled & treated as low BP only when there are some symptoms associated with this. If however you are completely fine not experiencing any symptoms like weakness, dizziness, fainting etc then there is no need to worry about the BP being on the lower side. If however, you experience some symptoms with this BP then we need to evaluate you because There can be many reasons for low BP with symptoms some as simple as as low haemoglobin or vitamin or iron deficiency or dehydration, others can be due to some diseases like hypothyroid, heart problems or infection etc. So it will be best if you get her evaluated once by a internal medicine specialist to find out what may be causing this low BP so that proper treatment can be started and at the same time start drinking lot of water & oral fluids like coconut water, nimbu pani, juices, lassi etc and avoid dehydration.

No need to panic, just monitor your BP for 24 hrs that is all. Do not do unnecessary exertion for 24 hrs and drink plenty of water. From next time onwards please be very careful while taking your medications as extradose can cause excessive BP reduction leading to low BP and fainting.

Your total cholesterol and LDL are high and so you should immediately start with lifestyle mdofications measures like - 1. Daily exercise for atleast 40-45 mins in the form of brisk walking etc 2. Quit smoking & drinking. 3. Get a detailed diet counselling for a healthy heart diet which should be low in fried food, sugars and sweet and high in fibres, fruits, proteins etc. Get in touch with a cardiologist locally and get a baseline evaluation done with echo, ecg, TMT and thyroid profile. Follow these precautions for 8 weeks then repeat your lipid profile, if it is still high you will need to start medications.
