Impact Of Obesity On Contraceptive Choice

Image result for obese woman contraception

Impact of Obesity on Contraceptive Choice:

Obesity is becoming an alarming epidemic nowadays. Although obesity is associated with some reduction in fertility, the vast majority of obese women can conceive. The risk of pregnancy associated complications is higher in obese women.

Intrauterine contraception may be more effective than oral or transdermal methods for obese women. The WHO guidelines provide no restrictions (class 1) for the use of intrauterine contraception, DMPA, and progestin-only pills for obese women (BMI ≥30) in the absence of coexistent medical problems, whereas methods that include estrogen (pill, patch, ring) are considered class 2 (advantages generally outweigh theoretical or proven risks) due to the increased risk of thromboembolic disease.

There are no restrictions to the use of any contraceptive methods following restrictive bariatric surgery procedures, but both combined and progestin-only pills are relatively less effective following procedures associated with malabsorption.

Dear Lybrate user, Anxiety disorders are a category of mental disorders characterized by feelings of anxiety and fear, where anxiety is a worry about future events and fear is a reaction to current events. These feelings may cause physical symptoms, such as a racing heart and shakiness. There are a number of anxiety disorders: including generalized anxiety disorder, a specific phobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety disorder, agoraphobia, and panic disorder among others. While each has its own characteristics and symptoms, they all include symptoms of anxiety. I need to know more about your anxiety so that I will be able to diagnose it properly and provide you tips to overcome and manage your anxiety. Take care.

Bypass surgery is suggested only when all the three major arteries supplying blood to the heart has significantly large blockages or the main arteries also significantly blocked in this condition you carry a major risk for sudden cardiac arrest or a major Heart Attack it can happen anytime so if your doctor has advised to bypass surgery I would suggest you to undergo that as soon as possible if you want to just be on medications then you will always have a very high risk of sudden death or sudden heart attack which may happen in the next day or may not happen over 10 years.

It is a real thing to worry about as pain indicates something problematic. So consult a local doctor as a physical examination is required for a correct diagnosis so that proper treatment be given. Do not delay it--------------
