Anti Aging Skin Treatment - 6 Ways For It!

Anti Aging Skin Treatment - 6 Ways For It!

The allure to look young is always compelling and the recent advancements in medical technology have resulted in many procedures, which can help you knock off years. In fact skin care related to anti aging is one of the largest and fastest growing industries within the medical realm. Let's take a look at some of the procedures which are very effective in anti aging skin treatment.

1. Specialized Chemical Peels: In this procedure a doctor will put specially formulated acids on the area of your skin, which needs to be treated. This results in the abrasion or slight burning of the skin after, which new skin cells grow in its place, hence removing age related spots, wrinkles as well as freckles.

2. Injection of Botulinum Toxin Type A or Botox: This is possibly one of the most famous and well known anti aging treatments all over the world. This treatment involves injecting Botox into strategic areas of the face to reduce wrinkles and creases that may occur due to aging. This treatment is especially effective for frown lines on the forehead and close to eye corners.

3. Laser Resurfacing and or other Radio Frequency Treatments: These machine related treatments also use the principle of abrasion or wounding the skin to encourage the growth of new tissue. In laser resurfacing, a laser beam destroys the epidermis or the outer layer of the skin and heats up the dermis or the lower layer of the skin. As the wounded skin tissue heals, new tissue takes it place which is tighter, thus giving you a younger look.

4. Facelift surgery: It is a cosmetic surgical procedure, which takes quite some time to heal but is known to have long term results. In this procedure, excess skin and fat from your face and neck are removed surgically and after the bruising and the scarring have subsided, the new skin is much tighter thus making you look much younger.

5. Microdermabrasion and Dermabrasion: These procedures employ the abrasion tactic to the fullest to destroy old tissue and encourage the growth of new tissue. Dermabrasion uses the technique of sanding the skin with a rotating brush where new skin needs to grow. Microdermabrasion is a more subtle technique as it uses finer equipment to sand away only the top layer of skin and the side effects of redness, swelling and scabbing tend to be lesser compared to conventional Dermabrasion.

6. Other Soft Skin Tissues Filler Injections: There are many other forms of soft skin tissue fillers other than Botox, which can be directly injected into the required area. Some of these are fats, gels and collagen which can be directly injected into wrinkles. These fillers work by swelling and plumping up the area around the skin to give it smoother look. However, these treatments also need to be done at frequent periodic intervals of a few months.

Know About Birthmarks And Its Types!

Know About Birthmarks And Its Types!

Colored marks which are present on the skin since birth or develop soon after birth are called birthmarks. They can be of many sizes, colors and shapes. Some of them are present on the surface, while a few of them are raised over the skin surface.

Here are some common types of birthmarks:

1.        Salmon patches
These birthmarks are most commonly found. They are flat and thin, and are mostly present on the back of the neck, the upper lips, eyelids and in some cases, between the eyebrows. They are usually pale pink or reddish in colour and fade within a year. However, those which are on the nape of the neck might stay and become permanent marks.

2.        Congenital moles
Congenital moles appear at birth. They are usually brown in colour and can be of different sizes. While some moles appear as a single mark, others can appear clustered in groups. The moles which become larger, however, need close observation because there remains a possibility of them becoming cancerous later on in life.

3.        Cafe-au-lait spots

They are smoother than other types of patches. They are present from birth and may develop more during childhood. Usually, these spots are not found in the neck or shoulders, but rather at the legs or torso. It is generally not a health scare. However, if these spots appear in clusters and occur in the armpits accompanied with freckles, they might be suggestive of neurofibromatosis later in life.

4.        Mongolian Spots
They are usually present in babies who are born with darker skins. Mongolian spots usually fade by the time the baby has reached school-going age.

5.        Venous Malformations
These are very rare birthmarks which are formed because of the abnormalities in the veins. These are usually bigger than other birthmarks and need to be treated by a process which is known as "embolization". This involves treating the malformation with a solution, thus putting a clog in the blood vessels and shrinking the mark. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Sir my hair is falling down Continues while bathing. So please suggest me for using shampoo to stop it.
Hairloss can be due to nutritional deficiencies, hormonal sensitivity, thyroid problem, certain medication, dandruff, trauma caused by massage or tractional, post illness, post stress, etc However it's normal to shed up to 100 hair per day. You may use ducray anaphase shampoo, 2-3 times a week, you can also take regular vitamin supplements to avoid hairfall due to nutritional deficiencies. If hairfall persists beyond 3 months then you may require certain blood tests and hair examination to rule out the above mentioned disorders and then may be started on topical solutions. Avoid: crash diet, blow dry, chemical hair procedures. Take care.

Mole Removal!

MBBS, MD - Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy
Dermatologist, Kumbakonam
  • Avoid removing the mole if it is given as an identification mark for government documents such as driving license, ration card, voters card, etc.
  • If you have tendency to develop keloids or hypertrophic scars then invasive procedures must be avoided.
  • Mole with irregular margin and colour should be surgically excised and sent for histopathological examination to rule out melanoma.
  • Mole removal can leave behind a scar or pigmentation especially when it is big or deep.
  • You must follow up after suture removal, your dermatologist may suggest you topical medication to make your scar less prominent.
  • Remember, your mole can regrow from the little remnants which may have been left behind.

Acne scars only on my cheeks. I want to took treatment for removing them. What is the best treatment and how much it ...
Hello, The treatment depends on what kind of scar you have. For ice pick scars a procedure called CROSS can be done. Werease for rolling scar subcision and other scars microneedling/LASER will work. Hope now you get an idea about various scars and the respective treatments. Cost varies from place to place and it is different for different procedures Take care.

Does opexa gel work for stretch marks. They are very old and is there in shoulder and butt.

MBBS, MD - Dermatology, Venereology & Leprosy

Hello, These gels doesn't work for old scar/stretch marks. Microneedling or carbon dioxide laser treatment are few options for old stretch marks. However multiple sittings will be required. Take care.
