Hi. I had unprotected sex around 15th of last month. I took an Ipill within two days. I did not have any withdrawal bleeding. I never do. But, my period is delayed by three days and I'm getting worried. I cannot go to a doctor because my parents do not know.

Wait for a week and test again the pill often disrupts the cycle so if sex is a frequent issue please take regular pilloc to avoid issues later in life.

Some time periods delay due to hormonal variation, influenced under stress and anxiety, as your urine pregnancy test is negative, then nothing to worry as such, you need to little patience.

Is Walking Better Than Jogging?

MD, MBBS
General Physician, Bangalore
Is Walking Better Than Jogging?

Walking is a low intense cardio exercise that is suitable for all age groups. For people with bone problems and back pain, walking is the perfect exercise. It is less stressful on the body and has similar benefits to running or jogging. So if you are looking for reasons to jump on the bandwagon of walking as an exercise, here are a few:

  1. Good for the Heart: Running puts some amount of stress on your heart muscles but does not seem to reduce the chances of premature death; whereas walking at a brisk pace puts less stress on the heart and considerably reduces the risk of premature death. Running may also cause inflammation in the muscles of the heart and increases free radicals in the body.
  2. Increases immunity: Walking has a beneficial effect on the immune system of the body vis-à-vis running. Running may induce conditions in the body which allow various bacterial infections like cold to foster. You end up falling sick more often if you run.
  3. Helps in weight lossWalking is a steady state exercise resulting in moderate levels of heart rate. Moderate heart rate sustained for 45-60 minutes is advised to lose fat. Running tends to raise the heart rate to drastic levels which cannot be sustained for long, thus leading to reduced fat loss.
  4. Stress on the joints: Running is a vigorous activity that places a lot of stress on the knee joints and the lower back. If you have conditions such as osteoarthritis and lower back pain, then running is a strict no for you. It is recommended to walk at a brisk pace for an hour every day for maximum benefits.
  5. Walking can be done anywhere: You can take a walk inside your office premises or even walk back to your home after work due to the light nature of the exercise. Running or jogging may require proper gear and may not be suitable for all places.

She was pregnant last month but we use medical abortion But now her period not come What should we do..

She was pregnant last month but we use medical abortion But now her period not come What should we do..
After any abortion, medical or surgical, the next period could get delayed by 2-3 months. If the abortion was completely successful, you can wait for the period to come spontaneously. However, there is also the risk of a second pregnancy, if adequate precautions were not taken. As of now, wait for 14 days delay and do a pregnancy test. If negative, repeat it after a week. If still negative, then you can safely wait for another month.

Once in a while because of hormonal disturbance or stress or simple ovarian cyst in previous cycle you get delayed periods. If your ovulation kit is positive on 9 th day of spotting then you get periods after 14 to 15 days after ovulation. If no periods even then consult gynecologist.

My wife is pregnant and 11 weeks old. Since she is bleeding lightly, we have consulted local doctor. She did ultra sound scan and told that there is a heart beat of baby and gave injection and 2 sets of tablets to stop bleeding. Now bleeding seems in control, but not stopped fully. I have scan reports and prescription. If you want I will send. What would be the reason?

Yes, I definetly want to have look about what was scan and what are the injections and tablets prescribed to you. That will give some clear idea of your pregnancy and reasons of bleeding. There are some reasons during pregnancy from which you can bleed. Let me see reports and prescription first. In most of the cases there is placenta (from which Baby get attached to mother and get nutrition from) is get slightly detached from mother's uterus which causes bleeding. Reasons for this detachment may be sex, some jerk, heavy weight lifting, bending work or less hormones produced in body to support pregnancy or at last problem in baby. All of which can cause bleeding. To stop we can give two types of medicines and HCG injection also. But let me see prescription first than I will explain in detail if required.
