Menorrhagia - 4 Ways To Treat It

Menorrhagia is a condition that is marked by heavy menstrual bleeding during the monthly menstrual cycles. Most women have a unique bleeding pattern during that time of the month with the flow going up and down over the first few days. Yet, for many women, the bleeding becomes consistently heavy during all the days of the period, during which the period itself may get extended by a few days. If this pattern continues to occurs, one must get it checked out by a doctor at the earliest. Here are a few ways in which this condition may be treated.

Factors considered during treatment: Before the treatment starts, and during the diagnosis stage, the doctor will take a look at a number of factors so that the correct form of treatment may be prescribed to the patient. To begin with, the doctor will take a complete medical history of the patient, including the family history to ascertain whether or not there may be a genetic problem at play. Further, the future childbearing plans of the patient will also be taken into consideration in such cases so that the treatment method does not hinder such plans. Also, the doctor will also try and understand the effect of the symptoms of this condition before prescribing any particular medication and surgery.

  • Medication: Iron supplements and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines will be prescribed for the patient to bring down the level of inflammation and restore the production of blood, which will make up for the rapidly flowing blood from the body. This will also prevent the risk of anemia. Oral contraceptives, tranexamic acid, oral progesterone and hormonal therapy can also help in such cases.
  • Dilation and Curettage: This procedure is also known as D&C, and it basically helps in dilation or opening up of the cervix so that the doctor may suction the tissue from the uterine lining. This tissue is usually known to bring about excessive bleeding.
  • Uterine Artery Embolisation: This is a procedure which shrinks any existing fibroids that may be the cause behind excessive bleeding. In this procedure, the uterine arteries are blocked and the blood supply to the same is cut off so that the fibroids do not get a chance to grow and cause unnecessary pressure that may lead to excessive bleeding.
  • Hysterectomy: This is a surgical procedure that removes the cervix as well as the uterus, and is usually the last resort followed by most doctors. In such cases, the doctor will first ascertain whether or not you plan to have any children in the future. Additionally, the ovaries may also be removed if the condition has spread too much to be contained sufficiently. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Hello, Growth hormones plays a major role in achieving milestones of the body. If you have a low hormone level dont go for a synthetic/chemical replacement of hormones as it is risky and can cause serious disabilities, grow for herbal supplements and medicines for your complaints. Practice yogasanas, they stimulate the Pitutary gland and can accelerate your slow growth along with the herbs.

19 things that happen to women’s bodies during sex

Beyond the moans and the gasping and the whispers, the twining bodies the clawing the twisting and twirling, a lot happen in a woman’s sexual response cycle.

Beyond the moans and the gasping and the whispers, the twining bodies the clawing the twisting and twirling, a lot happen in a woman’s sexual response cycle.

The most noticeable thing are tensed muscles and a noticeable acceleration of heart rate, blood pressure and breathing

Sexual stimulation could come from a touch as part of foreplay, something she sees (e.g. porn or a man she likes) or self-pleasure/ masturbation.

And a lot happens once she is sexually triggered…

Her vagina begins to self-lubricate

Her vagina expands and lengthens

Her outer lips, inner lips, clitoris and sometimes

Her breasts begin to swell.

Her vaginal lips become puffier

Her tissues of the walls of the outer third of the vagina swell with blood

Her opening to the vagina narrows

Her clitoris disappears into its hood.

Her vagina’s inner labia change colour

Her breathing and pulse rates quicken

Her body may blush in some parts, like the face, stomach, chest, shoulders, breasts or neck

Her thigh, hands and buttocks muscles tense up

Her vaginal walls contract rhythmically every eight-tenths of a second as she reaches orgasm

Her uterus’ muscles contract

Her genitalia experience peak blood-vessel engorgement

Her orgasm may comes with muscular reflex of the hands and feet.

After orgasm, her uterus and clitoris return to their normal positions.

All swelling recedes

Her muscles relax

For women, sex is more than a physical experience.

If they must experience orgasm, a more intense and personal experience, beyond mere penile penetration, is needed.

Most times, direct stimulation of the clitoris is needed.

Also, a woman needs to be mentally and physically involved in the sex act to really enjoy it…

Your schedule is definitely hectic. We usually advice our patients to have 8hrs night rest and 2hrs daytime rest. Try to have a break when you r in office. Baby growth is more when you r beyond 5th month pregnancy so growth is as such not a problem.

It depends at that time on how your pregnancy condition is your gynecologist will do a general examination and then decide accordingly whether medicine is required to be taken or not it is advisable to keep a gap of atleast three years between the two pregnancy then it is more safer.

Douching - Why is it Bad for You?

MRCOG, Laparoscopic Suturing Skills in Surgical Disciples, Medical Writing Course, Laparoscopic Training, Diploma in Gyanecology Endoscopy, Diploma in Minimal Access Surgeries, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, Fellowship in Basic Endoscopy Training, FOGSI Ethi Skills Course, Training Course in Ultrasound-Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS

Douching - Why is it Bad for You?

Douching is a process wherein the vagina is washed with water or other fluid based substances. Douches are available in your local pharmacy or drug stores. They usually contain water, baking soda, iodine or vinegar.

Is it required?

Doctors have generally recommended against this practice. The primary reason for this is that it creates bacterial imbalance in the vagina. For clearer understanding, there are both types of bacteria; harmful and good, present in the vagina in a certain balance.

Douching can upset this balance. It causes the harmful bacteria to thrive and multiply and impairs the functioning of the good bacteria.

Due to this imbalance, one may become prone to various infections in the vagina, yeast infections being the most common of them all. The harmful bacteria may also spread to the reproductive tract and cause infections.

Studies conducted to prove the efficacy of douching have shown that neither do they clean the vagina nor do they prevent infections. To give a detailed idea of what douching can do to the vagina, here are its disadvantages:

  1. Pelvic inflammatory diseases: Douching increases the risks of PID’s. This disease causes infection in the ovaries and the uterus.

  2. Vaginal infections: As douching upsets the balance of bacteria in the vagina, it also creates conditions that allows harmful bacteria to develop

  3. Complications in your pregnancy: Douching has been proven to decrease the chance of getting pregnant. It is known to increase the chance of an ectopic pregnancy, wherein the embryo is not implanted inside the uterus.

  4. Cancer of the cervix: Douching has also been linked to an increased risk of cervical cancer.

The verdict

If you think that douching can get rid an infection, then you need to reconsider. Consult a doctor so that you get proper treatment. Do not resort to douching as the risks outweigh the minimal benefits it offers. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Eat your regular diet ( preferably freshly home made food ). Have all kinds of fruits and vegetables ( organic products if possible). Maintain ideal weight by exercising every day. Take proper rest ( sleep for 6-8 hrs everyday at fixed time). Do yoga which can balance your hormonal irregularities and help you conceive naturally. Just relax and do your best. If needed you can add Homeopathy which can support your immune system to work efficiently. Do go for a routine checkup with your gynecologist and follow the instructions. Revert with any new updates or if you have any questions.

No it will not. Half of the population which lives in villages n small towns either don't visit a doctor all through their pregnancy or visit in very late stages usually for delivery still they have normal babies 99.98% of times. So don't waste your time in fretting over the things which is very rare to happen still on safer side get a scan done at 13 wks for nuchal fold thickness.
