My 2 month old baby has phlegm and she isn't able to breathe freely and is vomiting her feeds sometimes. We consulted a pediatrician and she advised us to give her steam and use nasoclear. Are there any other suggestions to help relieve my baby? Can I apply some vapour rub on her chest? Any coconut oil?

Perhaps this is normal at her age and is related to the size of air pipe (trachea). If child is taking feeds well, putting on weight and is cheerful happy, smiling and playing, nothing needs to be done. Enjoy playing with her.

I am, a mother of 3 and a half months old baby girl. I am concerned about my lactation as my baby's pediatrician has told me that my baby is having a slow weight gain respective of her age, she weighs 5.5 kgs. My question is that is there really anything to worry about her weight? Is my baby not getting sufficient breast milk? I am confused whether I am producing enough breast milk or not? It will be very kind of you, if you could help me out.

Nature provides milk to baby through her mother which is sufficient to feed baby if mother is taking nutritious good diet. Weight of baby is 5.5 kg which is with in normal range. It is good indication that baby is getting sufficient milk.

Hi, I am Dr Chavvi Bansal. And I am practising homoeopathy in Homeopathy and wellness, Pitampura.

Today I would like to discuss Homeopathy and the various childhood diseases and Impact of homoeopathy in various childhood infections. As we know that children are more disposed to infections and they develop diseases readily because they have low immunity and they are more prone to infections. Homeopathy treatment works on the same and it boosts the child's immunity, not to take these infections and fight with them effectively. Commonly found childhood diseases are respiratory diseases are tonsillitis, prolonged bronchitis, prolonged cough, constipation, diarrhoea and gas problems. Children are also more prone to eczema and hives. Bedwetting is also one of the most common childhood diseases, but we have a good homoeopathic treatment for all such diseases.

Coming to the homoeopathic management.

Homeopathic medicines are not just mild and safe but also boosts the child's immunity. So, it basically makes the body immunity strong, so not to take infections or fight them effectively. Also, Children are very soft. Giving them hard medicines will not only affect them in a negative way but also hamper their growth. Hence, it is always advised to give them a homoeopathic treatment.

Homeopathy has given wonderful results on children diseases. It has also been found to increase the child's immunity to its best. It also helps to prevent surgery for adenoids and tonsillitis.

For more queries related to such problems, please feel free to contact me through Lybrate.

My baby's fetal hemoglobin is 7.7 is it normal range of a 8 months old and any risk of thalassemia disease.
Please clarify. Is the hemoglobin 7.7 which may be normal. But if the foetal hemoglobin is 7.7% of total hemoglobin this is too high and further testing for thalassemia is essential.

Breast milk is the best milk for an infant. Suckling the baby with peace of mind is the only solution for increasing milk production. You must drink good amount of water and take nutritious diet. If it's not at all possible to feed you can give nan 1.

You have not mentioned age. If child has colic pain then colimex will help. Sudden excessive cry in healthy child in evening and between to 3 wk to 6mo. Then it is likely to be colic. But make sure there is no other disease or illness. Give medicine as adv, by doctor.

I am a 23 year old lady, I used to feed my baby and its been 14months for I am feeding her now when I stopped feeding her my left breast which my daughter used to suck more became as hard as rock, I could feel the hardness and due to milk filled in it got enlarged. I kept on controlling my pain for 2days. But then it was unbearable so somebody told me to pour out some milk out of it, so I pressed it hardly and poured out a lot of milk. I found my pain lesser and felt light but my left breast has become larger than the other, I wanna ask is it normal?

Pediatrician, Pune
If the supply is more than the demand, it is likely to cause problems, there should be an equilibrium, try to breast feed from both breasts, alternatively. As the left breast is producing more milk, it has become larger than the other, once breast feeding is stopped, things will be back to normal, try to give food to the baby as much as possible, breast feeding should reduce by some time.

Don`t worry sabita . Thalassemia minor is not a fatal disease at all, only thing we needs to know is, that hemoglobin in such patients will remain a little low, somewhere around 10 mg/dL, so please consult a pediatric hemato-oncologist so get full counselling done regarding the disease . please dont go by what other people say. For any query whatever it is , consult your pediatric- hemato-oncologist.

My baby is two months old. Her tongue and inside gums has become white. She is refusing to take milk. Please advise.
White deposit in mouth is usually fungal infection. Apply or just pour 2 to 3 drops of candid mouth paint over the tounge 4 to 5 times in a day. After response, it may be continued 3 times in a day for 1 to 2 monts. Do not scrap or scratch white deposit. If no response in 3 to 4 days, consult pediateician. In case, if she is refusing feed which I suppose she is not able to suckle instead of refusing, give expressed breast milk with spoon for proper nutrition. If baby is not able to swallow, consult immiditely. Exclussive breast milk is strongly advisible up to 6 monts of age.
