Breathing

General Physician (AM)
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Chandigarh
Breathing
Learning how to breathe properly can have a profound effect on your life. Often we don't breathe properly, so our bodies are not getting sufficient oxygen and toxins are not being released fully. When we are anxious or stressed our breathing changes and we tend to breath from the top of our lungs. Taking control of the breath during stressful situations can be really helpful. It can create a feeling of relaxation and increased well being. There are many breathing techniques that can be helpful. The key is to breathe in slowly and deeply, the emphasis on extending the out breath which will increase relaxation and help balance the autonomic nervous system.

Inhale through your nose for the count of 5.

Hold for a moment and observe the space.

Exhale through your mouth for the count of 9.

Repeat a few times until you feel more relaxed.

You can use this technique first thing in the morning and it will set you up for the day. Any tool that you use that restores balance to the mind and body will have a huge benefit on your overall well being. What could be easier then breathing

Hello, you could see a pulmonologist if you haven't seen one yet. Get thyroid tests done. Hypothyroidism can cause cold intolerance. If she smokes, she has to avoid it. Get sputum test done to see any tubercular infection. Let me know the cough is dry or wet, according to that I will prescribe medications.

I have been chewing ghutka since 2008. And now I finally quitted chewing totally since 3 weeks and now I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms including shortness of breathe sometimes suddenly. I want to know is it a serious issue? What should I do now? And how long will it last?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Nothing to worry really. Withdrawal symptoms will run their course and will gradually fade away. Drinking a lot of fluids and do good vigorous exercises and that will lessen the effects. If it gets really unbearable you can visit a doctor who will prescribe medicines to ease the symptoms.

I heard that if I go for endoscopic sinus surgery it changes my nose shape. Please advice

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, endoscopic sinus surgery, also known as sinoscopy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove blockages in the sinuses for recurring sinus infections. During the procedure, a thin lighted tube with a camera on the end is inserted into the nose to let the doctor visually examine the area. Tiny surgical instruments are then inserted to remove the obstructive tissues. Endoscopic sinus surgery does not require any incision, as the whole procedure is performed through the nostrils and do not change shape of your nose. Thanks.

take steam inhalations , when you exert to breathe better , there is strain on heart and this may be the reason for increase in heart beat. mostly congestion in nose is due to external factors like smoke and pollution and taking anti allergic tablets at bed time helps. but do inhale steam and clear the congestion. you may spit out flegm which shows some amount of pollutants in it.
