An inflammation of the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord is known as meningitis. This disorder can cause headaches and high fever. Seizures, stiff neck and a skin rash has also been observed in patients.
HOW IS MENINGITIS DIAGNOSED?
In addition to blood tests to check the presence of bacteria and CT scans, a physical examination to check for any swelling or infection along the spine, ears, heard and throat would be performed. A spinal tap to check and analyse cerebrospinal fluid would be performed to confirm this diagnosis.
HOW IS MENINGITIS TREATED?
Treatment for Meningitis includes acute antibiotics to keep the disease in control along with giving the patient Oxygen therapy. Apart from this, supportive care and strict observation is essential along with expert care. Else, there is a high risk of relapse.
