In Lichen Nitidus, patients usually experience tiny reddish and purple kinds of eruptions all over their skin along with minor scaling. These reddish-brown papules are also called mini lichen planus and may be accompanied with some kind of itching, swelling and redness. However, no pain is usually associated with the same.
HOW IS LICHEN NITIDUS DIAGNOSED?
The doctor or dermatologist makes a diagnosis of Lichen Nitidus or another skin condition based on the information provided about the symptoms and a careful examination of the skin abnormality. The doctor may use a magnifying glass to look at the skin. Or he/she may take a small sample of tissue (biopsy) and look at it under a microscope.
HOW IS LICHEN NITIDUS TREATED?
The condition mostly lasts for a few months to a year and usually clears up with no treatment. In case, it is a cosmetic concern or is causing itching, the doctor may recommend Corticosteroids and Retinoid for treating the condition. Phototherapy may also be used in some cases.
