Knee Dislocation occurs when the triangle-shaped bone that covers the knee moves or slides out of place. The dislocation usually occurs outside of the leg. It could occur due to injury or a sudden change in direction of the leg. Symptoms are:
• Deformed knee
• Bent knee that cannot be straightened
• Dislocation of kneecap
• Knee pain and tenderness
• Knee swelling
• Sloppy walking
HOW IS KNEE DISLOCATION DIAGNOSED?
The diagnosis of the knee dislocation is done by a specialist who will perform a physical examination and ask the patient for the details of the injury. The doctor will ask the patient to move his leg back and forth, squat, stand or by lie down on his back with knee extended.
HOW IS KNEE DISLOCATION TREATED?
In most of the cases, Knee Dislocation is surgically treated.
