Knee Dislocation occurs when the triangle-shaped bone that covers the knee moves or slides out of place. The dislocation usually occurs outside of the leg. It could occur due to injury or a sudden change in direction of the leg. Symptoms are:

The first treatment involves relocation in which the doctor will manipulate it back into place. A physical therapy can help build back your muscle strength and improve the knee range of motion. In cases of damage to the bone and cartilage, or if the kneecap continues to be unstable, one may need surgery to stabilize the kneecap. This may be done using arthroscopic or open surgery.
