Dental Plaque is a sticky, colourless film of bacteria that gets deposited on our teeth along the gum line. It is colourless in the beginning, but later develops a yellow colour along the teeth, between teeth and behind the teeth. Untreated plaque can lead to gum disease and tooth decay. Symptoms of dental plaque are:
• Sticky coating on teeth along gum line
• Inflammation along the gum line
• Irritation along teeth
HOW IS DENTAL PLAQUE DIAGNOSED?
A dentist diagnoses dental plaque by examining the teeth and checking the clinical manifestations
HOW IS DENTAL PLAQUE TREATED?
Treatment involves a thorough dental cleanup if the plaque has not developed further into calculus and caused cavities. Regular dental cleaning may be needed if you are prone to plaque build up.
DID YOU KNOW?
Plaque prevention is better than its treatment as all it needs is maintaining a proper oral health regime by brushing your teeth twice and visiting a dentist regularly.
