Benign tumors can form anywhere in the body with an abnormal growth of cells that serves no purpose. It is a lump or mass in the body that can be felt from the outside. Women generally find lumps in their breasts during self-examinations. It does not spread to nearby parts of the body. The exact cause of benign tumor is often unknown. It develops when cells in the body divide and grow at rapidly.

HOW IS BENIGN TUMORS TREATED?
Not all benign tumors require treatment, for small tumors doctors would recommend a wait-and-watch approach. Tumor surgery is often done by endoscopic techniques using tube like devices. For inaccessible tumors radiation therapy may be performed.
