Treatment for leukoplakia, if needed, involves removing the source of irritation. If leukoplakia is caused by a rough tooth or an irregular surface on a denture or a filling, the tooth will be smoothed and dental appliances repaired. If leukoplakia is caused by smoking, you will be asked to minimize or stop smoking or using other tobacco products. Leukoplakia is usually harmless, and lesions usually clear in a few weeks or months after the source of irritation is removed. If eliminating the source of irritation is ineffective in reducing leukoplakia, the lesion may need to be surgically removed. The lesion can be removed either by an oral surgeon.

Hi, Please tell me how to clean tongue. There is white something is there. Because of that bad is there. Please tell me.
There are two main ways to properly clean your tongue: brushing and scraping. Brushing your tongue involves gently scrubbing your tongue from back to tip with a moistened toothbrush. You can do this most effectively while brushing your teeth by spitting out excess toothpaste after cleaning your teeth but before rinsing so that your mouth and toothbrush still have toothpaste residue on them. Then gently scrub your tongue, cheeks, and the roof of your mouth before rinsing to reap the protective benefits of the toothpaste and get an all around clean.

My 3 year old daughter has an pus pocket on upper gum. I consulted a dentist who told me it is a tooth abscess. I got second opinion and he said its a gum assess I am confused.

BDS
Dentist, Kochi
For an acute dental abscess that causes substantial pain or swelling, the doctor may incise and drain the abscess and/or try therapy with antibiotics. Pain medication is commonly prescribed until the symptoms can be controlled. These initial measures are often necessary to temporarily relieve the signs and symptoms of an acute abscess; however, further treatment directed at eliminating the primary source of the infection is necessary to prevent recurrence. The location of this primary source determines the "definitive" treatment options, which may include root canal treatment, periodontal treatment, or extraction of the tooth.

Pain from a mouth ulcer generally lessens in a few days and the sores usually heal without treatment in about a week or two. If sores are large, painful or persistent, I may recommend an antimicrobial mouth rinse, a corticosteroid ointment, or a prescription or non-prescription solution to reduce the pain and irritation.

Hello lybrate-user, The black portion on the teeth is decay. This can be treated by getting the decay cleaned and filling with any tooth colored material like Composite or GIC. Consult your dentist for further details. Thank you.

I may recommend an improved daily home-care regimen for your teeth, including adding antiseptic mouthwash to your routine. If pockets of germs have formed around the teeth and gums are beginning to pull away from the teeth, a deep cleaning with your dentist or periodontist (a dentist who specializes in gum disease).

Hello lybrate-user, You are too young to get dentures. Implant would be the best solution, depending on the bone health and the space available to place the implants. The cost would range anywhere between 20000-30000 per implant. Thank you.
