An Ophthalmologist diagnoses Visual Impairment by performing a complete eye examination and examining the medical history of the patient. Additional tests to diagnose Visual Impairment include the Snellen test, and Visual field test.

The treatment is to provide glasses and vision helping aids to patients. In case of severe visual impairment surgery and laser treatment to correct the vision is considered
