HOW IS COLON CANCER DIAGNOSED?
The health care practitioner will perform a physical exam on the belly area. A Fecal occult blood test (FOBT) may detect small amounts of blood in the stool. A sigmoidoscopy, or more likely, a colonoscopy, will be done to evaluate the cause of blood in your stool. Blood tests may be recommended for CBC and liver function tests. CT or MRI scans of the abdomen, pelvic area, chest, or brain may be used to stage cancer.
