Amelogenesis is the formation of enamel on the teeth. This formation starts during the formation of the crown, at the bell stage of tooth development. Amelogenesis occurs after dentinogenesis. Amelogenesis occurs in three stages, namely, inductive stage, secretory stage and third stage. Defective Amelogenesis leads to Amelogenesis Imperfecta (AI). Amelogenesis consists of two processes: formation of enamel matrix and mineralization.
HOW IS AMELOGENESIS DIAGNOSED?
A dental check up by your local dentist is sufficient to diagnose the presence of Amelogenesis.
HOW IS AMELOGENESIS TREATED?
A dentist can determine whether or not the tooth enamel development and tooth growth is happening in a proper manner. Dental X Rays and visual examinations can also determine any anomalies.
