Dear Lybrate-user, it is good that you wants to stop smoking, we are destroying our health by smoking normal human takes oxygen into lungs 12 -15 times per minute (12 - 15 breaths) Lungs mixes oxygen in our blood and it purifies our blood, by smoking we are mixing not only oxygen adding and mixing bad elements like Nicotine etc. In Oxygen, that spoils our blood and our body organs like Lungs, Heart, kidney etc… How to quit: By willingness and willpower" where there is a will there is a way" Reduce one by one day by day. If you need any support have counseling help

Dear, You must be able to understand Concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly. Please post a private question to me and I will help you with "effective learning" techniques. Take care.

He is going through depression & take so much medicines from 5year what he have to do.
In major depression medicines are necessary to take. But it is also useful to undergo psychotherapy sessions like cognitive behaviour therapy, clinical hypnotherapy or mindfulness. As when we have constant acidity we need to take the medicines to get it under control but strict diet is necessary to avoid future acidity problems. Similarly our mental diet is our thoughts. Because every thought creates emotion as a result of certain brain chemicals which we call neurotransmitters get released. Medicines take care of getting these chemicals under control. But if change our thoughts just like changing diet less of disturbed emotions and hence less chemicals get released. These therapies teach us the helpful way of thinking process. They deal with the core issues. Give us new way to look at ourself and the people around us. Mindfulness helps to break our habit of sticking to our past. Start him with these therapies and you will certainly see the results.

You are obviously stressed and probably doing a lot of emotional eating. Your sedentary work style is not helping at all. You seem to display a lot of anger. Your over-eating may be due to that. Apart from that, you need to look at your metabolic rate ? my assumption is that that may be low as well. So the thing to do is deal with your feelings with a counselor; eat a lot of fiber food, whole grains, vegetables, and fruits; exercise every day in the morning and during the day, take periodic breaks and just walk around from your desk; and finally do some stress management course. Among these things the exercise will increase your metabolic rate and your expressing feelings are the most critical.

My father is around 73 years he has difficulty in walking and now has some problem in voice clarity. He is diagnosed with parkinson. Can you suggest what should I do so that I can improve his ability to walk and improve his health. Sincerely looking forward to u'r help and advice.

Parkinson's disease-kampavata (a neurological disorder) parkinson's disease is a neurological disease, or brain disorder, that leads to progressive difficulty with balance and coordination. In people who have parkinson's disease, nerve cells in a region of the brain known as the substantia nigra become damaged or die. These cells are important because they produce the chemical dopamine, which helps to coordinate body movement-basal ganglia. When dopamine-producing cells degenerate/die, the areas in the brain that control movement can no longer function properly, and symptoms of parkinson's disease eventually develop. Parkinson? s disease prevalence:- parkinson's disease can affect anyone, but it most often occurs in people who are over the age of 50. Only 15 percent of parkinson's disease patients are diagnosed before they are 50 years old. The prevalence of parkinson's disease is nearly the same in both men and women, and recovery rate is more in men. People with a family history of parkinson's may have a higher risk of developing the disease, but parkinson's disease is rarely attributed to genetics alone. Parkinson's disease symptoms symptoms of parkinson's disease usually develop after about 80 percent of the brain's dopamine-producing cells are lost. The main symptoms of parkinson's disease include? tremors (kampam)- tremulousness (uncontrolled shaking or trembling) of the hands, arms, legs, face, body is often one of the first indicators of parkinson's disease? rigidity. Profound stiffness or an inability to easily move the arms, legs, and trunk, pain and stiffness on neck muscles is another hallmark of parkinson's? bradykinesia:- describes the unnaturally slow movements that are characteristic of people with parkinson's disease? poor balance- parkinson's disease affects balance, leading to difficulty walking and impaired coordination. The symptoms of parkinson's are generally mild at first, but become more severe over time, until they eventually interfere with your daily routine. This is usually the point when treatment is recommended. The outlook for people with parkinson's disease parkinson's disease is a chronic, progressive condition, which means it is a lifelong disease that worsens over time when it is not treated properly. Each individual's situation is different, but in general, the first symptoms of parkinson's disease usually don't require treatment and may be restricted to one area or one side of the body. Movement of symptoms to the other side of the body? tremors that become more pronounced and interfere with activities? bradykinesia, or slow movement, that becomes disabling? difficulty with hand writing? impaired swallowing and chewing? speech that becomes monotone? poor balance and repeated falls? slow, shuffling gait (manner of walking)? stooped posture? facial expressions that become stiff and blank? chronic constipation? poor bladder control? sleep disturbances this progression is gradual in most people, but it may happen faster in some than others. Understandably, stress caused by the progression of the disease can lead to anxiety and depression. Ayurveda treatment: there is cure for parkinson's disease with ayurveda treatment, with ayurveda medicines and treatments we can relieve symptoms, slow down the progression and then we can completely arrest further degeneration of the of the cells, thereby we can completely control and cure the disease. If you are diagnosed with parkinson's disease, it is important to work closely with your medical team, so your medications can be regularly adjusted to help you remain as functional as possible for as long as possible. As far as parkinson's disease is concerned this is a brain related issue, so will surely effect the mind; so I recommend 49% treatment to patients and 51% treatment to family members.

I am 62 years old. I have a question. Although I enjoy sex and can have regular sex, I find that there is mild depression after sex act which affects my cheerfulness for long hours after the act. That's why I avoid sex. Of course my wife is also not demanding. Even in games like football or exercise there is great exertion, but we don't feel depressed, rather we get fresh after a game. This is a long time experience and may not be because of age alone. Can you give an answer.

The difference between football and sex is of the social coloring of sex. While both are plain pleasure movements. Guilt is linked with the latter. Especially when you age, the social conditioning at the back of your mind tells to forbid it and indulge in religious pursuits. Get rid of the conditioning and the conflict will end. Cheers.

Comply with all the medical prescriptions and work in tandem with a counselor for a long time and learn coping skills and techniques to handle the daily challenges you will face. There are certain adaptations that will suit you during the elation phase and there are certain behaviors that are required during the depressed phases. In the meantime you can do certain things that will give you benefits anyway. Emotional therapy will alleviate a lot of the problems faced in this condition because it is a mood disorder. You need to particularly look at your levels of anger both for its reasonableness and to express it in appropriate manner. I suspect that much of this anger may have origins in early childhood that you may never be aware of it now. Talk to your parents and explore that angle. This information will help the counselor too. Also you will need to check whether there is any genetic factor involved. You must exercise regularly, eat healthily and sleep normally too. If your motivation and cooperation is good much can be achieved. You must have a time-structured schedule filled with interesting and reasonable activities and it must be monitored for compliance and delivery. The reason I say this is that many times you will be inclined to have grandiose notions and confidently believe that you can do without the medication. This will set you back many months in the treatment and delay and sabotage the recovery: forewarned you are forearmed. If this combination of medication with therapy is maintained for at least three years without any episodes or breakdowns, it is possible to taper the medication in consonance with the doctor.

Give correct solution. I have too much angry, I forgot somethings daily works etc. Please do help.

Natural concentration is when the mind can hold a thought for a long time, when thoughts are under our own control. Without concentration the mind goes here, there and everywhere, jumping like a monkey from branch to branch, idea to idea. When there is a natural concentration, we can control our mind and there is peace. This one-pointed concentration on a thought, holding it for as long as we like, gradually collects strength in the mind and in the self. A strong mind is a mind that is peaceful, stable, satisfied and can remain in the deeper meaning of a thought. There is no waste caused by over-thinking, or the high speed of thought: These are the two greatest diseases of the mind these days, which is why there is so much stress and mental breakdown. You can follow these simple rules: Have a good night?s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. Afternoons are a bad time to do study by reading. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. In a calm disposition concentration is much better and you will be able to study better. You may need to make notes and reduce the quantity of material to be studied and that will make it easier. Today the syllabus is very heavy and so it is difficult but you must find ways of giving more important topics more of your time and attention and that way you will prioritize your effort. Speed will come with practice.

Dear lybrate user, you have multiple health issues. Your doctor must have prescribed the medicines after checking all your physical parameters. So if you wish to stop the allopathy medicine, then discuss it with your doctor. If you think the medicines are not working for you, he/she may change the medicines. And you may approach an ayurvedic doctor after consultation with your allopathy doctor. Allopathy and ayurvedic medicines - both have their advantages and disadvantages. The doctors will guide you. You may also consult a counsellor for your anxiety and depression. Medication alogwith behaviour therapy works very well, which the counsellor will help you with. Take care.
