I had viral on last december and taken the treatment of 5 days for that. After that I am facing cough issue in nose and throat. Whenever there is little bit cold environment (Like sleeping in AC or cold whether because of rain), my nose and throat started having cough. I need to blow the nose to remove it. It happens in night and early morning most of the time. I never had this problem early. I don't know why this is happening. I want to cure it permanently. Please suggest me.

Homoeopathy is wonderful in treating such chronic, repetitive complaints. It builds up immunity and restores health of an individual. For medicine consult online in private with detailed account of your complaints and reports. 1.Reach for fluids. As with any illness, staying hydrated is your first line of defense against coughing. If your cough stems from a dry throat, a little hydration might be all you need. Even if your cough is caused by something else, drinking plenty of fluids is never a bad idea 2 Make the fluids warm. For certain coughs, such as ones caused by congestion or sinus drainage, warm liquids can be even more effective than cold or room temperature ones. 3.Try saltwater. Particularly in cases of cold- or flu-related coughs, salt water is your friend. 4.Consider steam — in some cases. Conventional wisdom often dictates that steam from a shower or a humidifier can help combat a cough; however, that’s only the case if your cough is due to dry air. If you’re coughing because of congestion, asthma, dust mites, or mold, among other causes, moist air could actually make your cough worse. 5.Stay upright. Being horizontal can cause mucus to drain into your throat. When sleeping with a cough, for example, you should prop up your head with pillows to prevent sinus drainage from pooling in your throat, causing you to cough. 6.Keep the air clean. Stay away from dirty air, including cigarette smoke. Particulates in the air could either be the source of your cough or worsen one that has other causes. Strong fragrances, such as perfumes, can cause some people to cough, even if they’re not irritating to others 7.Keep the air still. Avoid wind, ceiling fans, heaters, and air conditioners, because moving air can make coughs worse For medication consult online in private.

It's due to viral infection which causes all those symptoms. You should continue maxtra 5 ml thrice daily for 5 days. And 2.5 ml ibugesic after food (when fever comes i.e. More than 100F. If not productive cough mucolite s has no role now.

I have cough from last few days but I'm recovering from it. Today I went out for a run but due to bad air quality (AQI 178) I got a severe headache. Now my main concern is, is it okay to run under such polluted environment? Or should I move my workout regime indoor?

MD - General Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Ghaziabad
Hello it€™s must be allergic reaction to pollution. Try to reduce outdoor and if you and missy on running outside then please put on mask and then go. Would recommend to work out indoor.

I am suffering from cold and cough from last 3 weeks. What is require to cure it?

MBBS
General Physician, Kendujhar
Hello, Thanks for your query on Lybrate "As" per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this- 1) Do a Blood differential count to know the exact cause. 2) You can discuss with your treating doctor about following medications - a) Pancef O-200 mg twice a day for 7 days b) Kofarest Syrup-10 ML every 8 hours 3) Add other medications after investigation report. Do follow lifestyle modifications like this - 1) Avoid cigarette smoke. Cigarette smoke increases your risk of chronic bronchitis. 2) Get vaccinated. Many cases of acute bronchitis result from influenza, a virus. Getting a yearly flu vaccine can help protect you from getting the flu. You may also want to consider vaccination that protects against some types of pneumonia. 3) Wash your hands. To reduce your risk of catching a viral infection, wash your hands frequently and get in the habit of using hand sanitizers. 4) Wear a surgical mask. If you have COPD, you might consider wearing a face mask at work and in crowds. Hope that helps.

I am suffering from rhino sinusitis with ear, throat infection. Went to see ENT doctor, he prescribe below medicine Rabonik DSR Leon 500 mg OD Betnelan 1 mg BD Zeet expectorant TDS I have taken first dose of this medicine but I get to know that Leon 500 mg is an antibiotic which has dangerous side effects, so I want to know can I take Augmentin 375 mg BD instead of Leon 500 OD with same effect?

MBBS, MD - Community Medicine
General Physician, Pondicherry
See you read medical stuff without proper knowledge of medicine or training. Leon 500 mg is levofloxacin and as far as I know it is having same degree of side effects as most of the antibiotics. So either you trust your doctor and administer the medicine or don't. As far as amoxicillin plus clavulanic acid is concerned, that is augmentin tablets if you mean it is the best for ent related infections especially rhino synovitis unless you have developed resistance to it that is the microorganism developed resistance to it. If you want to take augmentin and you are an adult then the dose is 500 mg amoxicillin and 125 mg clavulanic acid that is augmentin 625 mg tab you have to take it 3 times a day for 5 days then only you can assure complete treatment.

Hai lybrate-user. You had cough for last 1 moth with blood staining only today. But you have not mentioned about dry or productive cough. Any evening rise of temperature. Any dry cough in India more than 2 weeks we have to rule out tuberculosis. .moreover detailed history and examination should be done. To diagnose the case. Some investigations like sputum test cxr may be needed. You please consult an ent practitioner.
