Low Vaginal Lubrication - How To Deal With It?

Low Vaginal Lubrication - How To Deal With It?

Are you experiencing reduced libido along with intense dryness in your genitals? Loss of libido is a tough thing to cope with in women. In spite of having a great sex life, your vaginal area can become nonresponsive because of several reasons. You might not even know what is happening and the reasons which are causing the condition. These conditions are common in the menopause stage in women.

Reasons for decreased libido and vaginal dryness:

  1. Several changes occur in a woman’s body during the menopause stage. The sex hormones, which include estrogen and progesterone start decreasing. This may lower your libido, cause vaginal dryness and affect your sex life to a great extent.
  2. Testosterone is the sex hormone which turns you on or gets you into the mood for having sex. When the production of this hormone is insufficient, the urge for having sex gets affected and reaching an orgasm gets even harder.
  3. The decrease in estrogen production causes several physical changes in a woman. The blood circulation to your sexual organs gets reduced, making you less sensitive to any kind of sexual stimulation. It also leads to vaginal dryness. The walls of the vagina also become thin due to which penetration may get painful.

Remedies for decreased libido

  1. You should start practicing breathing exercises and do meditation for at least thirty minutes every day. This will enable you to eliminate stress, which is a primary trigger for decreased libido.
  2. For balancing the estrogen levels, you should consume phytoestrogenic tea and supplements. Some important herbs which you should take include black cohosh, red clover and dong quai.
  3. You should also consume aphrodisiac food items. Garlic is such a food item, which contains allicin and increases the blood flow to the vagina. Dark chocolate can also be taken.

Remedies for vaginal dryness

Several conventional vaginal lubricants may lead to irritation, infection and dryness of the vagina.

  1. You should always use a natural lubricant, which is not associated with side effects and works effectively. Natural lubricants such as tea tree oil, coconut oil and vitamin E based oils provide effective vaginal lubrication. They also moisturize and repair the vagina.
  2. You must keep fit and active. Regular cardio or yoga sessions will help with enhanced blood flow to your sexual organs, making you feel wet.
  3. You should drink plenty of water and always stay hydrated in order to prevent dryness in the vagina.

Most importantly, it is a good idea to continue having sex. If you shy away and do not make any effort, the problem of decrease in libido will continue. Therefore, sex is the best way of encouraging your body. Proper communication with your partner is also necessary.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Low sperm count could be due tot testosterone deficiency 1.Go for regular exercise like brisk walking for 30 minutes daily, 2.reduce weight if you are over weight 3. Take adequate rest and have 7-8 hours of sound sleep in the night 4. Avoid stress 5.Avoid dietary sugar like bread, pasta, use healthy fats like olive oil 6.Take zinc containing food like milk, meat, fish, cheese, beans, yogurt etc 7. Take vitamin D supplement (1000-2000 mg daily). 8.Take Plenty of green leafy vegetables, cauliflower, spinach, bean, mushroom, onion, garlic, fruits, diet rich in mono unsaturated fat& eomega 3 fatty acid (walnut, almond, flax seed/flax seed oil, soybean/soy milk/ oil), egg, fish, fish oil, sardines, salmon, dark chocolate, carrots, oats, blue berries/ banana/pomegranate/cereals, 9.Drink plenty of water, pomegranate juice, green tea 2-3 cups /day without sugar/ milk (contains anti oxidant like flavonoid and helps in improving sperm quality, but in high doses may affect sperm quality) 10. Avoid smoking, alcohol consumption 11. Take one capsule of Zevit daily, 12. If required you have to take injection testosterone after checking blood testosterone level and consulting doctor 13. Drinking pomegranate juice can increase sperm count, healthier sperms, sperm concentration, helps in erectile dysfunction, sperm conentrationc/motility/ density and reduce abnormal sperms.

Step 1 Maintain a healthy, naturally balanced diet. Fresh fruits, vegetables, protein, whole grains and healthy carbohydrates are all good food choices for you and your baby. Eating three to four solid meals per day will support a healthy weight for you and your baby. Avoid fatty, fried foods and foods high in cholesterol or preservatives. Step 2 Get plenty of rest at night and rest when you are tired during the day. Pregnancy affects the body in a number of ways. Resting provides you with energy and allows your body to refresh itself. Take naps whenever possible and reduce your level of activity if you find yourself becoming tired more quickly that before. Don't over-exert yourself. Step 3 Take prenatal vitamins at the suggestion or prescription of your doctor. Prenatal vitamins provide your body with additional nutrients to support a healthy pregnancy for you and your baby. Step 4 Reduce stress and anxiety. When you are stressed or anxious, you may overeat or undereat or you may not take care of yourself adequately. The results affect you and your baby. Keeping calm and managing your stress is vital to maintaining a healthy pregnancy. Step 5 Refrain from using alcohol, caffeine, tobacco and drugs. These substances can have dangerous effects on your health and can be detrimental to the health of your baby. Tips Maintain a schedule of regular checkups with your doctor to monitor your baby's weight.

Home work can be done. For any couple to get pregnancy it requires patience, as treatment after treatment can be tried and possibility of pregnancy is only on day of ovulation in cycle. Leave it to gynaecologist or infertility specialist in whom you have trust to decide what treatment when.

Fas 3 kit which you probably used clears most of the infection. If you r having sex then your partner also needs to be treated with the same kit at the same time as you had and you also need to take it with clingen pessary and use condoms for 7 days. As you r 48 years of age it is better you have pap test done with hpv.

If your weight is normal, you just need to maintain same weight by jogging or brisk walk daily for 4-5km. If you have excessive hair and irregular menses, you should start taking krimson-35 tablets for 3-6 monts. New hair growth can be stopped with krimson-35 tablets and it will also regularize your menses. Irregular menses may reappear after the course of krimson-35, but you have to learn to live with it. If your menses does not come in 3 months, you can take tablet deviry 2 times a day for 5 days to get your menses.

Please note since all your reports are normal then this is termed as unexplained infertility. We would recommend that you try 2-3 cycles of good IUI where atleast you are forming 2-3 follicles which will increase your chances of conception. All the Best!

Me and my Girlfriend enjoying our sex life. But pregnancy is our problem. We are thinking for anal sex. Is it better? Will it hurt my partners inside? Please suggest me regarding anal sex.

MBBS
General Physician, Hyderabad
Hi lybrate-user, I would not suggest anal sex, because any tear in the anal wall will lead to fissure in ano condition. It makes your partner" s anus fibrosed and will not let the stool to come out leading to constipation. As the days passes on it becomes a serious issue to her. Kindly use condom only.
