I had my blood checkup last week in which Thyroid Stimulating hormone (TSH) is high (8.39) And Blood Platelet is less (110. I had my blood test 2 years back also then also my Platelet was around 110 which should be at least more than 150.In the last 3 years my Platelet never increased from 110 though some time it decreased but never crossed 110. Please suggest on the above 2 issues.

Nothing to worry. Few patients do have low platelet. Just do you clotting and bleeding time. If normal. Its ok to have this level of platelet. TSH is borderline high. Repeat it after 4 weeks if still remains high then we can start on thyroxine.

He doesn't have any of these habits. No history of fever / chest pain, BP is normal but sugar problem had developed since last 3 to 4 years. What should we do to control his sugar

I was taking thyroid tablet buy had stopped since a month. Pls advise.
Learn that it is caused due to hormonal imbalance. Therefore, you need to continue the medicines and monitor the level of TSH on a regular basis so that the dosage can be adjusted accordingly. Please follow healthy lifestyle and maintain an ideal weight (learn Yoga and pranayam and do them regularly ). Do not ignore health as it can become more problematic in the future. Read as much about thyroid conditions and their signs and symptoms. Understand how it can be controlled. Always go for a routine medical check up and go for follow-up as advised by your doctor. You can later add Homeopathy which is safe and gentle. Homeopathy improves the immune system and helps natural healing. You can contact me for a detailed consultation if interested.

There is nothing like final stage in diabetes. But diabetes needs to be controlled well. There must be many tests which have been conducted by the doctor. Depending upon the results, and the medicines she is taking, dosage can be changed. Also her kidneys and eyes need to be checked.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. It is necessary to initiate appropriate treatment with proper drugs, then take restricted diet, avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items and foods made from maida. Increase intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Plus do regular exercise for more than 1 hour a day. If you are looking for online help may come with following details: Fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, weight, height, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercise, then I will be able to guide specifically. It is better if you come in a private conversation (paid consultation), then it is possible to even prescribe necessary medication. Thanks.

Hi, First, get thorough check of your whole body annually (once every year) from a reliable hospital to rule out any medical condition. Otherwise for staying fit: We need make few changes in our life to stay fit and healthy (if there is no medical condition): - Just walking alone is a very beneficial exercise which can help you stay in shape, feel more energetic, and get healthy. Always take stairs rather than taking an elevator. -Standing while you work can help your body get more activity than if you were just sitting down. Spend at least some of your work day standing instead of sitting in order to help your blood flow and maintain your muscles. -Do more chores. Lots of household chores actually involve a lot of exercise and being better about doing chores can be a great way for you to fit activity and exercise into your day. -Aim to exercise for a total of 30 minutes per day and you’ll easily be able to maintain your fitness level. -Some exercises will be more efficient than others, and choosing these more efficient exercises means that the small amount of time that you do spend exercising will really count. Try to choose exercises that focus on your core muscles, since your legs and arms can get activity through daily activities like lifting bags of groceries and walking a longer distance from your car. Try squats, planks, burpees. -Get indulge into some activity at home like riding a bicycle, swimming, playing active games with your kids. -Eating right. Cut out unhealthy fats and take in healthy fats. The easiest way to identify unhealthy fats is to look for “solid” fats, or fats that are solid at room temperature. Get plenty of protein. Protein will help you maintain your muscles and also give you the energetic feeling that you may be missing now that you’re getting less exercise. Good protein sources include skinless chicken, salmon, sardines, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and peas. Eat properly portioned, balanced meals. Generally, about ⅓ of your plate should be fruits and vegetables and ⅓ of your plate should be grains. The final third should be a mix of protein and low-fat dairy (cottage cheese, eggs, non-fat milk, etc). -Drinking enough water also has the added bonus of keeping your hunger level down, helping you to maintain the lower calorie count that you’ll be getting now that you’re not exercising as much.

No food produces insulin, insulin is release in response to food. In diabetics this release is delayed.
