Top 10 Superfoods to Make Your Skin Glow This Winter

1. Olive Oil

Olive oil is good for your skin, especially during the winter when the skin tends to become drier. Being rich in vitamins A and E as well as several other minerals and natural fatty acids, it helps hydrate the skin to maintain its elasticity and softness.

It also prevents skin aging, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and protects the skin from free radical damage.
•Before taking a bath, rub warm olive oil over your face, the backs of your arms, your elbows and your knees. Massage gently for a few minutes, then take a warm bath. Afterward, pat your skin dry and wipe away the excess oil. Your skin will become amazingly soft and smooth.
•Also, use extra-virgin olive oil in salad dressings and cooking.

2. Grapefruit

Grapefruit contains vitamin C, an antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage. It also has lycopene that helps keep your skin smooth.

The potassium present in it can prevent wrinkles and age spots as well as protect the skin against harmful UV sunrays. The amino acids in grapefruit make your skin more firm and soft.

Plus, the unique phytochemical known as naringin in grapefruit reduces toxins in the liver, which results in healthier skin.
•Drink fresh grapefruit juice on a regular basis during the winter.
•You can also prepare a face mask with grapefruit and use it once a week. Mix the juice of ½ grapefruit, 1 tablespoon of honey and ½ cup of oatmeal powder. Apply it to your face, allow it to dry and then wash it off with lukewarm water. This face mask will provide smooth texture and natural radiance to your skin.

3. Avocado

You can also soothe dry winter skin with avocados. Being a good source of vitamins A, C and E along with monounsaturated fats, avocados help your skin lock in moisture. Also, this fruit contains folic acid, magnesium and potassium, which are all essential for healthy skin.

Plus, they help give your skin a more youthful look by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
•In addition to eating avocados, you can make a hydrating face mask with the fruit. Scoop the flesh out of a ripe avocado and mash it properly. Mix in 1 teaspoon each of honey and olive oil. Apply this smooth paste on your face. Allow it to dry, then rinse it off with warm water. Use this face mask a few times a week.
•Avocado oil is highly moisturizing for dull, dehydrated and itchy winter skin. You can use this oil to massage your body before taking a bath.

4. Carrots

Carrots are loaded with vitamin A and other antioxidants that can keep your skin healthy, vibrant and glowing even during the harsh winter days. They can also prevent signs of aging like wrinkles, pigmentation and an uneven skin tone.

Plus, carrots contain the carotenoids beta-carotene and lycopene that help protect your skin against UV damage. Being rich in potassium, they also help solve the problem of dry skin.
•Drinking a glass of carrot juice daily is a great way to keep your skin hydrated from within.
•You can also make a moisturizing face mask with carrots. Mix 2 teaspoons of pureed carrots, 1 teaspoon each of honey and milk cream, and a few drops of olive oil. Apply it on your clean face. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it off will cold water. Use this face mask a few times a week to enjoy soft, glowing and moisturized skin.

5. Broccoli

Broccoli is another healthy vegetable for your skin. It is packed with skin-boosting ingredients like vitamins A and C as well as natural estrogens that can do wonders for your skin.

While vitamin C stimulates collagen production to keep the skin healthy, vitamin A protects the skin cell membranes and prevents skin damage due to sun exposure.

8. Green Tea


Green tea is rich in antioxidants that fight free radical damage to your skin. This can prevent dryness and flaky skin as well as improve your complexion. Plus, the polyphenols in green tea can prevent and reduce signs of premature aging like wrinkles, age spots and saggy skin.
•You can simply splash cool green tea on your face and then rinse your face with cool water.
•To make a gentle exfoliating mask at home, mix the contents of a used green tea bag with a little honey to make a paste. Apply it on your clean face, leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off. Do this once or twice a week.
•Lastly, do not forget to drink 2 to 3 cups of green tea daily.


9. Salmon


To have beautiful glowing skin during the winter months, you must include salmon in your diet. Its high amount of omega-3 fatty acids nourishes from within. This helps maintain plumpness and moisture even when exposed to skin-drying winter winds and central heating.

Plus, it has selenium, a mineral that protects the skin from harmful UV rays. In addition, the zinc in salmon stimulates the production of new skin cells.

10. Dark Chocolate

•You can also add glow to dull skin with a dark chocolate face mask. Melt a bar of dark chocolate in a double boiler. Mix in 1 teaspoon each of gram flour and milk cream along with a little lemon juice. Apply it all over your face. Leave it on for 20 minutes, then rinse it off with warm water. Use this face mask once a week.

Dear you can easily gain weight and get a healthy muscular body by following these best things - 1. To gain weight, your digestion should work properly. If you have any disease of digestive system you should treat disease first. For proper digestion - take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. Or take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. Boil it in one glass of water for 2-3 minutes. Drink 5-10 teaspoons (15-20 ml) in morning and evening for strong digestive system. Or you can take amla powder 1 teaspoon with water for strong digestion. 2. Take a diet rich with proteins and fats. You should take high calorie food that increase your muscle mass and induce growth in bones. Follow it in your daily life to fastly gain weight * in morning, take a glass of milk added with 2 teaspoons of protein powder with breakfast. * in lunch time, take 1 bowl of curd or 100 gm of cheese, a bowl of vegetable, with chapattis. * in evening, take 1 glass of milk (300 ml) with 2 bananas. * in night, take a bowl of careals (daal, a bowl of salad with chapattis. 3. In morning, get up early and take awalk for 10-15 minutes and exercise light weight exercises for at least 30 minutes at home or gym. 4. For proper weight, proper sleep is very important. So you should sleep for 6-8 hours daily. 5. Avoid soft drinks, western fast food (burgers, french fries, pizza etc. They disturb your digestion. 6. You can try protein powders like endura mass, milk powder, soya protein. And creatinine for weight gain by taking 1 tea spoon added in milk once a day. It is important to understand that PCOS is not a disease, but a syndrome- which literally means that it is a group of symptoms resulting from involvement of multiple systems of body. It can affect anyone from a young adolescent girl to an adult woman even beyond a woman’s reproductive age. The name polycystic ovary is derived from the typical appearance of the ovaries, wherein multiple small cyst like spaces can be seen inside the ovaries. But, one must understand that this polycystic appearance of the ovaries is an outcome of the syndrome rather than being a cause for that. The PCOS can present in many ways, which can range from common symptoms such as weight gain, acne, facial and excessive body hair (hirsutism) and irregular menstruation to very serious medico-social issues such as infertility, diabetes, hypertension and uterine cancers. Most common question that I get asked is if PCOS can be cured? Very sadly the answer is No- PCOS cannot be cured! But, the symptoms of PCOS can most certainly be controlled using appropriate medical treatment and lifestyle interventions described above. The key to control of these symptoms is diagnosis at an early age and well titrated intervention from an expert. Remember that it is a condition of hormonal imbalance in the body, which results in irregular ovulation, over production of male sex hormones and resistance to the action of insulin. So, in very simple words, all the interventions would be focused on correcting this hormonal imbalance in the body. Most women with PCOS are able to overcome the challenge to their fertility with proper treatment. This treatment may vary from simple measures such as oral tablets to induce ovulation to IUI and all the way to IVF. One should always seek an expert’s opinion for management of PCOS when planning for a baby, as the doctor is the best person to support in this endeavor. These are the best methods to cure pimples fast -: • To control the sebum (oily) secretion you should maintain your hormonal level. Because imbalance in hormone level causes excessive sebum (oil) production and causes pimples. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. • Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. • Do not touch your pimple because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. Apply prasarini oil or pranacharya restopain oil on your affected part then give hot fomentation twice a day. Take mahayograj guggul 1-1 tab twice a day. Take maharasnadi kwath 2-2 tsf twice a day. Avoid tea. Coffee. Junk food. Fermented food. Spicy food. Rice. Walk for atleast 30 minutes a day. Do pranayama early morning. Sleep for atleast 7 hrs per day.

Hi lybrate user, in this age there is no possiblity absolutely for any pathological complaints. Its looking purely psychological. If you are student, then it might be related to stress, either work, or mental, family related issues, any personal problems. If you are thinking more abt those, or wrrying abt any those related issues. Will cause exertion of mind, psychologically weak, depressed. Some times, these all interrelated with lack of sleep, less intake of food, due to low appetite. If its since 4-5 yrs, then you might have seen any psychologist by then itself, evn now also. No problem, you can overcome from all these if you try to put few efforts. Like diverting your mind to some other avocation, whichever you like more like. It could be music. Listening or learning, writing/reading/sports/making trip for just changing the environment, learning any other your interested hobby, working some where at your comfortable zone, as part time or full time,& also. Practicing yoga/meditation/pranayama/breathing exercises[which will be taught in art of living like classes] will help alot to get rid of your problems.
