Hi lybrate-user ulcers on the tongue and gingiva could be indicative of viral infection in the mouth. I suggest you see a dentist, an oral surgeon, or an oral medicine specialist for evaluation. In the meantime, you can use any anaesthetic mouth ulcer gel, particularly just before meals, for symptomatic relief.

Flossing removes the leftovers which get stuck in the spaces between the teeth. Gently moving the floss in an up-and-down motion removes the tiny food particles.

Hi , I had widow teeth nut that teeth is coverd by sidelayer skin and that teeth is broken it to pieces twice now I am unable to chew right side due to skin covered the teeth please help me with a solution.

Dentist, Zirakpur
If i correctly understand Sunil .You have a wisdom tooth that is partially chipped or #ed.Usually in such a case when the skin covers the tooth .Its b coz there is insufficient space of the teeth to erupt .Extraction of the tooth is the only choice and a sane one at that coz food will keep accumulating between the wisdom tooth and tooth in front damaging the both teeth.Hope this helps

My breath smell very bad what to do.

PGPPH, BDS
Dentist,
Hi,bad breath, also known as halitosis, is breath that has an unpleasant odor. This odor can strike periodically or be persistent, depending on the cause. In many people, the millions of bacteria that live in the mouth (particularly on the back of the tongue) are the primary causes of bad breath. The mouth's warm, moist conditions make an ideal environment for these bacteria to grow. Most bad breath is caused by something in the mouth. Some types of bad breath, such as" morning mouth" are considered to be fairly normal, and they usually are not health concerns. The" morning mouth" type of bad breath occurs because the saliva that regularly washes away decaying food and odors during the daytime diminishes at night while you sleep. Your mouth becomes dry, and dead cells adhere to your tongue and to the inside of your cheeks. Bacteria use these cells for food and expel compounds that have a foul odor. In addition, bad breath can be caused by the following: poor dental hygiene? infrequent or improper brushing and flossing can leave food particles to decay inside the mouth. Infections in the mouth? periodontal (gum) disease respiratory tract infections? throat infections, sinus infections, lung infections external agents? garlic, onions, coffee, cigarette smoking, chewing tobacco dry mouth (xerostomia)? this can be caused by salivary gland problems, medications or by" mouth breathing" systemic illnesses? diabetes, liver disease, kidney disease, lung disease, sinus disease, reflux disease and others psychiatric illness? some people may perceive that they have bad breath, but it is not noticed by oral-health-care professionals or others. This is referred to as" pseudohalitosis"

My gum is paining very badly from past two days and its also swelled up. I don't know what to do. Please help me.
We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I had root canal treatment almost 10 years ago due to an injury in 3 teeth. Now the teeth have started becoming darker in color. Is this expected after rct? I was not told of any such effects while undergoing the surgery.

BDS
Dentist, Noida
Usually after an r. C. T teeth start becoming gray in colour after a couple of years. Depending on the tooth position in the mouth, if crowning is done, then this problem will not come at all. I do not think that you have crowns over these teeth in question. Kindly get a proper check up done from a good dentist & get the needful done. Take care.

Sir, is it useful to have fixed teeth transplantation. My age is about 46

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS, MFDS RCPS (Glasgow)
Dentist,
Sir, I assume you are talking about dental implants. If you are, it is perfectly possible to get fixed teeth at any age, but the decision is made only after a thorough clinical and, as necessary, radiological and laboratory evaluation. As far as the question of usefulness goes, you have to weigh the probable benefits over the potential risks associated with the technique. You need to weigh all the available options for replacement against each other, as well as against no treatment, and then come to a conclusion on the issue. Regards

My child is 4 years old she is suffering from mouth smell is very bad what I should do?
Infections in the mouth, such as dental caries (tooth decay), periodontal (gum) disease or mouth sores related to other conditions may contribute to bad breath. Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. Dry mouth also can cause bad breath. Smoking or chewing tobacco-based products also can cause bad breath, You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then.
