Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Are you feeling acute pain at one particular point or generally is it pain, numbness etc towards the outer aspect of thigh? also is there any associated swelling also present? my initial advice will be: rest to the affected part which means to stop your physical activities till pain subsides - ice packs at home for local application 3-4 times in a day - ultrasonics or laser therapy for local application at painful area - gentle analgesic like tab etohine or tab paracetamol whichever suits you for 3-5 days - local analgesic spray like dynapar qps spray for local application after fomentation. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance.

Hi thanks for your query. Such symptoms are due to nerve irritation/entrapment anywhere so it can be from lower back but if there is no radiating pain, then it could well be due to entrapment around ankle region of plantar nerves. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena

I am having cough knees pain and head ache too so doctor give me an effective medicine to cure it early.
Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

You can consult orthopaedic surgeon for the best advice. Only medicines cannot cure knee pain. You will require knee support, avoid squatting, avoid cross-legged sitting, avoid sitting on sofa, use chair with side support.

The Secret to Avoiding FRACTURES, Revealed by Dr. Kamal Bachani

The secret to avoiding bone and joint related injuries revealed!

An average person experiences two fractures during his or her lifetime and same holds true for joint related injuries. The severity of this condition depends on a number of factors, ranging from the forces responsible for injury and location to the damage done to the nearby tissues and bones.

How age plays a role in your chances of getting a fracture?

Your risk and severity of developing a fracture, depends, to a certain extent on your age.

A very common occurrence during childhood is crippling joint related injuries, the fractures that you tend to have during this time are generally less complex than the broken bone instances that you stand to experience when you enter adulthood.

With time, your bones become fragile and you become prone to broken bones sustained from falls, which you wouldn't when you were young. Furthermore, as you step into your 50th year, you can get struck by the bone condition osteoporosis, a leading cause of bone fractures during this time. For women, menopause makes them more susceptible to osteoporosis (as infrequent periods and hormonal changes at this time lead to loss of bone mass) and subsequently broken bones.

Preventing crippling joint injuries need many steps in younger generation known as prehab especially for sporting population and adult population involved in day to day activities requiring your body getting subjected to physical stress.

Simple steps to get your joints back to normal in case you do get into injuries.

  • having a calcium and vitamin d rich diet to strengthen bones
  • exercising to strengthen bone and muscle health as well as your balance
  • taking relevant medicines to make your bones strong
  • going for timely bone mineral density test to determine the health of your bone
  • exposing yourself to the sun for about 20 minutes everyday
  • having a requisite calcium intake of 1000 mg and 1200 mg for pre- and postmenopausal women respectively
  • preventing a fracture by modification in your household furniture, extra clothings, sometimes addition of simple orthotic devices, improving your muscle reaction time etc go in long way to help prevent falls.

Titrate thyronorm by yourself according to the test. These symptoms might be due to these. Still you have to do exercises. Regular walk morning and evening according to your ease. Progressively increase the duration of the exercises. Then start aerobics regular stretching exercises. Diet have be maintained with low fat but fibre rich and break your food habit if you are habitual binge eater. Restrict calories intake.
