Are long Distance Athletes like marathon & 10,000 meter professional athletes in India prone to getting diabetes since the running done is the most. There is no such gym workout that is done by such kind of athletes. Unlike a Sprint runner who does only 100m, 200m or long jump or hurdles, a long distance is mostly running or a 3000 steplechase. Also, diabetes is on the insulin level in the body. I'm a middle distance runner. Hence, i'm asking this question.

In a word, YES. Long distance runners can also develop diabetes, though the chances are much lesser than those in non-athletes. Diabetes doesn't mean the person has low Insulin alone. It means both that the person's body isn't producing enough Insulin for his/her requirements (known as Insulin deficiency) AND also that the Insulin that is produced is NOT able to exert its influence efficiently (a phenomenon known as Insulin Resistance). Thus, diabetes means both Insulin deficiency PLUS Insulin resistance and also a host of other metabolic derangements. I don't want to bore you any further...

Please follow the below recommendation for your condition: Diet, exercise, and behavioral modification should be included in all obesity management approaches for body mass index (BMI) of 25 kg/m 2 or higher. Other tools, such as pharmacotherapy for BMI of 27 kg/m 2 or higher with comorbidity or BMI over 30 kg/m2 and bariatric surgery for BMI of 35 kg/m2 with comorbidity or BMI over 40 kg/m 2, should be used as adjuncts to behavioral modification to reduce food intake and increase physical activity when this is possible. Many obese people are advised to follow a juice diet or the juice fast for a period of a week or so, so that they can shed the excess extra pounds faster. Health and nutrition experts advise people to consume fresh fruit or vegetable juice for obesity. Follow these simple steps to ensure a good sleep every night and stay away from sleep disorders and other health problems associated with unhealthy sleep habits: 1) maintain a regular sleep routine go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. A good sleep hygiene routine promotes healthy sleep and daytime alertness. 2) avoid sleeping during the daytime. It can disturb the normal pattern. 3) avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol near bedtime. While alcohol may speed the onset of sleep, it creates problems in he second half of sleep. 4) exercise can promote good sleep. Exercise should be taken in the morning or late afternoon. Yoga, can be done before bed to help. 5) have a quiet, comfortable bedroom. Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the tv and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background'white noise' like a fan is ok. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. 6) avoid heavy meals close to bedtime. 7) ensure adequate exposure to natural light. 8) avoid emotionally upsetting conversations and activities before trying to go to sleep. Do not think of, or bring your problems to bed. 9) stop using all your digital devices and stop looking at digital screens be it mobile phones or televisions at least 1 hour before the time you plan to sleep. Instead try reading a fiction book near bedtime so it makes you help relaxed and de-stressed. Sleep well live healthy and live longer.

My hubby have diabetes last 1 month. His weight 95 kg. He want to get surgery for reduced his weight. It's safe or not?

My hubby have diabetes last 1 month. His weight 95 kg. He want to get surgery for reduced his weight. It's safe or not?
Your husband's bmi is 32.87 kg/m2, thiis is classified as grade 1 obesity. Usually surgery is suggested in morbid obesity (grade 3 +) with a bmi over 40 kg/m2. The surgery is fairly safe, but with this level of obesity he can actually work vigorously and reduce weight with exercise and diet control. Even 5 to 10 % reduction in weight will bring a lot of benefits.

1. Use mild shampoo to wash hair (you can make your own shampoo using reetha and shikakai at home) 2. Stop using conditioners. Use natural conditioners like egg, yougurt and lemon. 3. Massage your scalp with a mix of oils like olive, coconut, sesame, castor oil at night. 4. Apply raw amla juice on hair thrice a week. 5. Rub your scalp with the juice of white onion. 6. Use a paste of bhringraj on hair. 7. You can use some good hair packs like - fenugreek and yogurt, egg and green tea. 8. You can rinse your hair with organic apple cider vinegar after washing your hair to maintain ph balance of your hair. 9. Hair health depends on the amount of protein in your diet. Foods like chicken, eggs, fish, nuts, dry fruits gives you the required nutrients to keep your skin and hair healthy. So consume plenty of them. Eat things rich in vitamin c like amla and oranges. 10. Drink lots of water to flush out toxins from the body.

Hello doctor I am arjun karadiya I am 30year old man I have short hight I want to increase my height please tell me what should I do.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

Hello doctor I am arjun karadiya I am 30year old man I have short hight I want to increase my height please tell me w...
You are so late in consulting me Arjun. We all are aware of the fact that our height increases up to a particular age and then it comes to a halt. Height increases up to the age of 18years in women and up to the age of 20 years in men. Increase in height is attributed to the production of growth hormone, called the HGH( Human Growth Hormone), which is secreted by the pituitary gland called the master gland of our body. It is rather difficult to increase height after reaching adulthood as the production of these hormones slowly stops. In most cases, the epiphyses of the long bones are fused as the last bits of cartilaginous tissue in the bones turn into solid hard bones. This prevents any further growth in longer bones. However, if the hormones are released naturally, increase in height can be observed.

Your number 150 and 250 are high. It should be 100/200. It means you are not regulating your diet properly. Added to that you have BP too. You should be extra careful now. Diabetes can be controlled/managed by a proper regulated diet and exercise. 1. Eat every two hours mini meals. Don't eat big meals. Take more green vegetables/salads. 2. Eat whole grain food/grains like ragi, wheat, jowar instead of refined grains like maida/ sooji/ white bread etc. 3. Reduce foods with high GI Index like potato, white rice, banana, mango. 4. Avoid all forms of simple sugars like Colas, juices, sweets, cakes, biscuits, pizzas, noodles etc. 5. Eat daily fruits with low/medium GI index like apple, guava, mosambi, orange. 6. Eat lot of proteins like dals, sprouts, egg, chicken etc with every minimeal. 7. Drink lot of water. One glass every hour. 8. Do at least 30-45 mins of exercise everyday. Take extra care of your health now.
