Eat high fibre food avoids eating food in simple sugar form 2. Eat fresh fruits instead of fruit juices. Fruits are good source of fibre except banana mango, chiku. 3. There is no medicine given for controlling blood sugar that raises blood pressure to that level. Check your blood pressure again probably 2 to 3 times a week. If the readings are peristently high then you will need treatment for the same. Meanwhile, reduce salt intake in your diet, have a regular brisk walk for atleast 30 minutes daily and increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Dear, you do not need to take medicine now. But avoid to eat pickle, excessive amount of salt, namkeen. Also avoid to drink more coffee, tea, alcohol. * monitor your bp twice in a week. If it is raised from above mention limit then you need to take medicine.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. What is your occupation at present? Well, your BP is still within normal limits. The increase in systolic pressure could be transient, mostly because of diet/ lifestyle issues including stress at study/ work. For the time being, I would advise you to check your dietary habits, especially cut down on salt, and other greesy/ oily & fatty foods including fast foods. A Mediterranean diet is advisable. Stay well hydrated too. Ensure that you streamline your lifestyle, with adequate room for relaxation and de-stressing. Also, you need to streamline your occupational aspect as well to reduce stress at work/ study. Hope this helps. You can always meet up a general physician for clinical evaluation should you not feel well still, despite having taken the above-mentioned measures. Do take care, and all the very best. Sincerely

Coronary Artery Disease - 6 Tips to Help You Manage It!

Coronary Artery Disease - 6 Tips to Help You Manage It!

Coronary artery disease, also known as coronary heart disease or CHD, is a kind of disease in which a wax-like substance called plaque, builds up in the coronary arteries.

Function of Coronary Artery
The task of coronary arteries is to supply oxygen rich blood to the heart muscles. When there is the growth of plaque in these arteries, the condition is termed as atherosclerosis. Plaque builds up over the years, and it hardens or ruptures with time. When plaque gets hardened, it narrows the coronary arteries and thus disrupts the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart muscles causing coronary heart diseases. Millions of people are diagnosed with heart diseases, nowadays.

Though it is true that living with a heart disease is not easy, it is not impossible either. Many people are successfully leading a happy life in spite of having such diseases. With some major changes in your lifestyle, food habits and with the help of exercises and a healthy diet, it is possible to enjoy a happy life, irrespective of your diseases.

Here are six ways that would help you to lead a better life, even if you have been diagnosed with coronary artery disease.

  1. Lifestyle changes: This is the first point that needs to be kept in mind if you are a CAD patient. Lifestyle changes are essential to make for a better health and life. Smoking and drinking have to be given up completely. It is advised to avoid secondary smoke, as much as possible.
  2. Exercises: This is the next important activity that needs to be a part of your daily routine to lead a healthy life. Consult with a doctor about the types of exercise that would suit your conditions. Some common exercises that would help are walking, jogging, and swimming, for at least 30 minutes at the most. Choose whichever activity you like doing. The motive of exercises is to get your heart-rate up.
  3. A Heart healthy diet: Get a chart prepared for your diet by a dietitian or by your doctor. This will keep your disease from getting worse. Stick to a heart-healthy eating plan, which consists of foods that can lower your risk of heart attack, stroke, etc. Include more fruits, vegetables, and other high fibre foods in your daily diet. Go for foods that are low in saturated fats, trans-fats, and cholesterol. Try to include fish into your diet.
  4. Maintain a healthy weight: Being overweight or obese aggravates any disease. So it is important to keep your body weight perfect.
  5. Taking medicines as prescribed: It is important to take medicines regularly and as prescribed by the physician.
  6. Keeping tensions, anxiety to a minimum: These will make the situation worse if you are CAD patient. So try to keep tension and anxiety away and lead a healthy life.

How does exercise affect my blood pressure? And What's my daily sodium (or salt) limit?

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

How does exercise affect my blood pressure? And What's my daily sodium (or salt) limit?
Brisk exercise increases BP in the start but after finishing BP slowly comes to normal. That is why a Hypertensive patient should not start brisk exercise in the starting few days.Let the BP comes to normal with medicines and then go for brisk exercises but for the time when BP is high just have a control on your diet along with medicines and just go for a normal morning or evening walks so that your daily routine is not broken. But once your BP starts coming to normal start doing Cardiovascular and Aerobic exercises which include walking, jogging, jumping rope, bicycling (stationary or outdoor), cross-country skiing, skating, rowing, high- or low-impact aerobics, swimming, and water aerobics. According yo WHO recommendations we shoul take 5 gm of salt/day but average indian consumption is 9 gm/day and if we reduce this average to 5 gm/day, we can reduce incidents of stroke by 25% and heart attacks by 10%.

Chest paining from 2 days may be bcz of chain smoking . please guide Me any medicine or way to leave smoke.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Chest paining from 2 days may be bcz of chain smoking . please guide Me any medicine or way to leave smoke.
If you really have the desire to quit smoking then only you can quit otherwise nothing can do anything. Soo all you need is to calculate how mny cigarette you smoke per day. Jst quit 1 cig per week. Say your taking 20 cig per day jst quit 1.19 cig per day do it for one week. Next week take 18 per day. Like this way quit jst 1 cig per week. N after few weeks you gonna see that you have quit it. That's the easiest way. Remember this only help you if you have burning desire to quit.

I had very controlled sugar levels all my life-below 80 MG/DL till about three years back. But has been showing rising trend since. I have been taking statin 10 mg daily for over ten years now. I have read some where that rising sugar level could be on account of prolonged use of statin. pl advise.

MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
Internal Medicine Specialist, Mumbai
Statin use does not cause rise in sugar. this is because of worsening of diabetes over years due to beta cell exhaustion. it also can be partly from increase in your carbohydrate intake in your diet.

We are doctors and humans too, do not want to become or act god. Mild failure can be helped so that it does not become severe, moderate failure can be prevented from becoming severe. There are good medicines + lifestyle modifications. Do write the severity and specific symptoms.

I am 25 year old male, my hair fall is increasing, every time while taking shower and combing hair I notice hair fall and I have high BP and my kidney disease in initial stage and taking treatment and medicine for that. May I know why hair fall starting at this young age please? And I apply coconut hair oil very rare all the time.

MD - Dermatology

I am 25 year old male, my hair fall is increasing, every time while taking shower and combing hair I notice hair fall...
Hair fall can be associated with pernicious anaemia, hypothyroidism, inflammatory bowel disease, nutritional deficiency, diabetes, stress. These have to be evaluated. You also have to make a lot of lifestyle changes. Correct your diet. Consume plenty of pulses, legumes, sprouts, grams, soya and nuts. If you r nonvegetarian, have meat, fish, milk and milk products in plenty. Drink lots of water. Avoid stressing over your hair fall since dopamine released can decrease hair further. Stay away from chemicals like hair dyes, bleaches. Avoid straighteners and hot combs. Overwashing and overshampooing can make your hair fall. Wash your hair twice a week and shampoo on the same day. Use mild shampoos. Massage scalp thoroughly to increase blood circulation. Towel dry hair, do not use blow dryers. Make sure not to sleep with wet damp hair. Comb hair regularly before going out. Protect your hair from sun. Stay away from alcohol and caffeinated drinks like coffee and cola since they produce antioxidants which damage free radicals. Exercise regularly for it promotes blood flow and enhances healthy, shiny hair growth. Yoga and meditation help destress. You vil need to take biotin tablets everyday after breakfast.
