no medicines can ensure twin pregnancy though chances are more if woman is taking medicines to stimulate the follicles, more follicles means more eggs diverted towards uterus followed by conception, implantation of more eggs leading to multiple babies which are not alike do share with us if you happen to carry twins just by chance only

If your cervix is constricted, this can also be a reason affecting conceiving. SO you should get cervical dilatation done, or can opt for IUI if everything else is fine.

Pregnant - Your Third Trimester Guide!

Pregnant - Your Third Trimester Guide!

Pregnancy is a stage which needs to be cautiously enjoyed by all expectant mothers. The word ‘cautiously’ is used and stressed upon by medical practitioners because it is a period where two lives are at stake i.e the mother’s and the baby’s. Both their health and nutrition are of the utmost importance during this stage. In the third trimester, which includes the seventh, eighth and ninth month, when the delivery date is knocking on your doorstep, you should be more cautious than ever.

Some of the precautions to be taken during these months are listed below.
Seventh month

  1. By this time, the essential features of the baby, such as hands and legs are fully developed. In fact, the baby might just start moving and should be given some space. Thus, expectant women must be watchful of the weight they carry. At no cost must their spine be injured or hurt. This can be disastrous for both the mother and the baby.
  2. It is best to avoid stairs, if possible and certainly use the elevator for higher floors. In case you have to take the stairs, then holding the railings would give you the support you need. For physical exercises, you can go for a walk or just practice simple breathing exercises to keep you active.
  3. Extra sleep is required during this month; and that too on the left side. Sleeping on the right side should be avoided. This helps in smooth blood circulation.

Eighth month

  1. This month is crucial for the baby as it is nearing delivery. As an expectant mother you should be able to understand the signs your body gives you. It is best to avoid heavy weight lifting and too much of work. You should drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated all the time.
  2. Avoid dust, animal excretes and stale food is important as it might hinder the brain development of the unborn child.
  3. Overeating should be avoided.
  4. You must take a break from household chores.
  5. Exercises must be continued under supervision.
  6. Fish must be avoided as at times they contain mercury which is not good for the unborn baby.

Ninth month

  1. Travelling is a strict no-no during this month.
  2. You must decide on the process of the delivery—natural or C-section beforehand.
  3. Going for regular check-ups is mandatory.

These are some of the precautions which must be taken during the last three months of your pregnancy. It would ensure the good health and well-being of your baby as well as your own.

Operation for delivery is just like any other major abdominal surgery where the layers of abdomen are cut delicately in layers to reach the uterus, delicately split open to take out the baby, placenta, fluids. Uterus is stitched in layers, a total of 3 including delicate top and inner layer and tough middle muscle layer, followed by stich on covering of entire abdomen, the delicate layer first and the tough rectus sheath which gives security to every organ including the long food pipe present within. Last layer is top layer with fat and muscle and followed by skin layer. Skin layer dries after 10 days and it looks as if nothing has happened, while so much has happened. After normal delivery it takes 6 weeks for every internal organ to get back in shape, after operative delivery it takes minimum 8 weeks for internal stitches to heal, there is risk of hernia if proper rest is not taken. Risk of infection if basic hygiene is not maintained by taking bath and keeping wound clean for 1st 10 days. She can take a bath after 7 days, do routine work for baby, feeding may make her sleep less because baby require a feed every 3 hours or so and it's worth doing so, no lifting of heavy weights like buckets or washing clothes and doing any post natal exercise minus professional supervision, eating a high protein diet like milks and curds and boiled eggs plus proteins supplements plus anything that does not cause distension, one knows about chicken peas, beans, certain raw salads etc. Yes do eat for 2 and do take rest while baby is sleeping for an average 20 hours in a day. Don't forget to take iron, folic acid and calcium tabs. She will be joining office after 2 months, I can only wish for a creche facility in office. Good luck to both of you, do share with her parental responsibly by helping her look after the baby.

I am 21 years old and I don't have a clear menstruation. Its been two months that I dint had my periods. Every year out of 12months I hardly have periods for like 4-5 months n it bleed only little like 3/4drops. Please help me to have a clear menstruation every month.

M.B.S.(HOMEO), MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Visakhapatnam
Oligomenorrhea is the term for by light or infrequent menstrual periods. It occurs in women of childbearing age. Some variation in menstruation is normal. A woman who regularly goes more than 35 days without menstruating may be diagnosed with oligomenorrhea. For the most part, a missed menstrual cycle or light flow does not pose a problem. However, sometimes it can point to polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos). This condition occurs as the result of a hormonal imbalance. Cysts develop on the ovaries and can affect menstrual cycles. Oligomenorrhea can occur in women who have diabetes or thyroid problems. It is also common in women with high levels of a protein called prolactin in their blood. Medications such as anti-psychotics and anti-epileptics also can decrease menstruation. See your doctor if you go more than 35 days without a period and are not on birth control medication. If your cycle suddenly changes, always contact your gynecologist.

lybrate-user what do you mean by mistakes? The baby is very well protected due to water around it. Nevertheless the best position is lying on the side left best .One should not lie in flat position for more than 5 min.

I am suffering from wrist joint pain since one month after my c section surgery. What should I do?

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Ludhiana
Hi , joint pain after delivery is very common. It happens because of relaxin hormone, which relaxes ligaments of joints to help in delivery. After delivery these ligaments contracts so this causes pain. So don't worry, do light exercise daily along with healthy diet, it will help you.

I had sex on 19 feb. 2 times my wife is pregnant. Is there any method to calculate pregnancy? my wife lmp is 10 feb. My edd is 21 nov 2015. Please tell is it possible or not?

MBBS, DGO (cal)
General Physician,
Approximately 9 calender month and 7 days to be added with the first date of the last menstrual period to find the expected date of delivery (not your edd as you have written, it is your wife's edd). Which is roughly 280 days. If her first date of lmp is 10th feb 2015 her edd comes to 17th nov 2015- 15 days. Usg can give this information more accurately in expert's hand.

Hello. We can minimize the pain during menses with diet and medicines (which are safe to take).. Diet: - Calcium is a mineral associated with building healthy bones and teeth. However, it may have some applications in minimizing the harmful effects of menstrual cramping. So,increase your intake by eating low-fat dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese or green leafy vegetables. - Your body uses vitamin B-6 to manufacture new red blood cells. When you lose red blood cells via menorrhagia, your body will need more to build new cells. Also, vitamin B-6 is required for your blood sugar to stay at healthy levels. This can help prevent menstrual cramping-related mood swings and fatigue. Vitamin B-6 is found in fortified cereals, bananas, spinach, sunflower seeds, avocados, tomato juice and salmon. - Just as foods can help reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramping and bleeding, foods can aggravate your symptoms. This includes eating excessive amounts of sugar -- such as cakes, cookies and pies. These are known to contribute to water retention, which make you feel bloated and uncomfortable. High-salt content foods -- french fries, pizza and other fried foods --- can also contribute to bloating. Caffeine-containing beverages like tea and coffee should be avoided as they can contribute to headaches, mood swings and trouble sleeping. - If you're craving chocolate, make sure it's over 70 per cent cocoa. This bittersweet treat will help you relax your muscles. - We all know fluids are essential when your body is cramping or bloating. Drinking two to three litres of water during your period is essential. - Tea is an easy way to replace your caffeine craving. Green tea to soothe cramps. now, even though green tea contains caffeine, try decaffeinated green tea instead — but be aware, you may lose some health benefits with a decaf version. Caffeine is another no-no. Drinking lots of coffee or pop during your period can increase higher levels of tension and anxiety. - Avoid anything that can damage your liver should be off the list. So, avoid alcohol. - Red meat, Smart says, is also know to cause stomach upsets and cramps. Medication: Start taking homoeopathic medicines - Mag. Phos. 6x and Colocynthis 200 - every 2 hrly. during the time of menses. And take Five Phos. and Alfaalfa Tonic - thrice daily for 1 month. Revert me back.
