Dear lybrate-user, at your young age, it is most likely that you do not have any BP problem. You should spend more time in eating well, exercising properly and outdoor activities. This will help reduce your restlessness about BP and you will enjoy your life more. Y are obviously suffering from acidity, so monitoring your digestion is important. Eat slowly, fresh foods and drink plenty of water to keep the acidity away. Do not onsume any food that is difficult to digest, spicy, old, cold and chillie. Improve your immunity and gut health. Call us for details. We have good medicines like cow colostrum Reimmugen that will help you.

Dear lybrate-user Thanks for sharing your concern. Generally BP medicines are given for long time or lifelong. It's not necessary. But to be on safe side doctors advice to continue the medication. Yes you can stop your BP medicine, but with few thing to keep in mind. Follow the thumb rule to maintain your BP with lifestyle medicine. 1) Monitor your BP regularly say every week. 2) Eat low Sodium salt (avoid pickles, salty wafers, canned food) 3) Eat Potassium rich food (Ripe Banana, Black Grapes, Red bell pepper, Radish, onion, etc) on regular basis. 3) Drink at least 3 to 4 ltrs of slight cold water. 4) Do regular Cardio vascular exercises (walking and cycling. Avoid jogging, skipping rope) 30 mins daily 5. Do deep breathing exercises for 5 mins after your cardio exercise.

The 6 Things that Make You Prone to Heart Diseases the Most

6 Things that make you prone to heart diseases the most

Every year almost 2 lakh people opt for heart surgeries in India; and as of 2015 there were about 30 million people in the country suffered from heart diseases. There are several factors that increase the threat of heart diseases, among which some can be controlled and some can't. On one hand, where factors like being a man, old age, being a woman in the post-menopausal phase of life, and a family history of heart diseases are beyond your control; other risks can be minimized by making some lifestyle changes.

Although natural processes like ageing, which narrow down your arteries and weaken the heart muscles increase the risk of heart diseases here are 7 factors, which dramatically increase your chances of getting heart diseases, while you are still young.

1. Genetic Factors:
If someone in your family is already suffering or has suffered from a heart disease, especially at a young age, it increases your probability of getting a cardiovascular disease.

2. High Levels of Cholesterol in the Blood:
Chances of formation of plaque on the inner walls of the arteries increase with increasing levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol in the blood. This may be a major cause of the heart disease, atherosclerosis, which happens due to accumulation of fatty substances inside the arteries.

3. Smoking:
Smoking causes constriction of your blood vessels and may damage their inner lining due to the effect of nicotine on them. This can put you at high risk of developing atherosclerosis. Moreover, studies suggest that people who smoke are twice as prone to heart attacks in comparison to non-smokers.

4. Hypertension:
If your blood pressure level is usually above normal, it can give rise to thickened arteries, which, in turn, can reduce the passage for the flow of blood through the vessels. This damages your heart health to a large extent and makes you prone to heart diseases.

5. Diabetes:
Uncontrolled diabetes increases your chances of getting a heart attack, especially because diabetes almost goes hand in hand with diabetes and obesity, which are risk factors of heart diseases.

6. Stress:
If you fail to keep your levels of stress and anger in check, they may have a damaging effect on your arteries. This can make way for strokes and heart attacks in the future.

Vsd is by birth, a congenital anomaly, not genetic or aquired. When there is a hole between 2 chambers of lower heart which pump the blood to entire body & to lungs for purification with fresh oxygen, the pumping action of heart will be affected for sure. Luckily the defect can be corrected but not during pregnancy. Depends upon symptoms. Avoid extra load on heart by rest, avoid swelling on body by reducing salt, eat more proteins to help baby grow faster & do operation to deliver the baby according to symptoms shown by mother about her heart being affected or not, she can carry the baby to full term at 36 weeks or an early delivery needs to be planned. But vsd is not inherited. Be sure to have a normal baby.

I am 73 male. I am having cad for last 12 yrs. What's needful actions to be undertaken?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MD - Ayurveda

Dear , from cad I assume you are referring to coronary artery disease or ischemic heart disease. You must be on asprin or clopidogrel and cholesterol reducing agent. How was the condition diagnosed whether it was through a treadmill stress test or has an angiography performed. I feel every 10 years after a confirmed diagnosis it is advisable to go with a coronary angiography to understand the health of the vasculature. Proper diet, planned exercise as per your cardiologists advise (heavy exercise is sometimes avoided but a brisk walk helps developing collateral circulation) will help you manage the heart disease. Avoid high fatty fried food and alcohol as it normally increases the triglycerides and other bad cholesterol. Best of luck for more advice I need to know your reports well. Best of luck.

No you cannot go back to normal diet with fats and heavy food. Jaundice reports are normal after 10 days but enzymes remain at a higher level for 6 weeks for a type & 8 weeks for b type of jaundice. Eat more proteins for liver to get repaired faster- toned milk, curd, few nuts, clear soups, boiled eggs. Avoid fats of any kind. Avoid bulky food. Eat more often. Drink lots of water/ ors/ canejuice-fresh & clean/ diluted milk with roohafza/ weak tea etc. More liquids will help bilirubin the yellow pigment get out of system faster. No exposure to sun, basic hygiene like bath & cottons only & total rest from work. Do get tested for type of jaundice-a or b.

Please make it a habit to go trekking or start a sport that required exertion. Sweating and being in the out doors will help you divert your mind from such thoughts and actions since they are not healthy and may badly affect you health in the future. Begin to meditate, it will strengthen your mind to be used in more useful matters.

Cholesterol component needs to be managed not only through medicines but with lifestyle changes. Start practicing yoga daily for 45 minutes and brisk walk for 30 minutes. This will increase your hdl and reduce your ldl (bad cholesterol. Also eat fresh warm food, avoid pizzas and fast food. Avoid non veg too. Adequate 7-8 hours of good sleep is equally important.
