Asthma: Breathing Made Easy with Homeopathy

B.H.M.S
Sexologist, Hyderabad
Asthma: Breathing Made Easy with Homeopathy

Asthma is a respiratory disorder, which is characterized by the narrowing down and inflammation of the inner lining of the airways of the lung, resulting in excessive secretion of mucous. The airways are responsible for the passage of air from and to the lungs. Asthma can affect any person of any age group; however, the symptoms of the condition can vary. The symptoms of asthma include severe pain in the chest, coughing and problems in breathing, interruption in sleep due to breathing problems and a croaking sound during exhalation. Asthma, in most cases, tends to be chronic and can exist throughout your life with eventual changes in the nature of attack.

The most common causes of asthma are:

  1. Common cold and allergies from dust particles, smoke and minute insects might be catalysts for asthma.
  2. Suffering from severe anxiety might also cause asthma.
  3. Asthma might occur as a result of physical exercise and as a side effect of some medications such as ibuprofen and aspirin.

As of now, asthma is incurable. But medications can control the symptoms. Homeopathic preparations can also be useful for the treatment of asthma. Some common homeopathic remedies are as follows:
1. Arsenic album: If the symptoms include severe episodes of stress and nervousness, immense thirst but the inability to drink much water, severe attacks at night and intense pain in the upper right portion of the chest, Arsenic Album might be very useful to cure the problem.
2. Nux Vomica: If the attack is primarily caused because of gastric disorders or sudden outbursts of anger along with symptoms of dry cough, headaches and stomach aches, Nux Vomica might be used as a remedial medicine.
3. Carbo Veg: Carbo veg can be recommended if the symptoms include a pale face at the time of attack along with cold feet and hands and an itchy sensation in the larynx.
4. Kali bichromicum and Moschus: If the attacks become worse in the morning accompanied by yellow mucus discharge, the above mentioned homeopathic preparations are recommended. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a homeopath and ask a free question.

Dear sir, My daughter is 6 weeks old. Here only OPV, Penta1 vaccines are available. PCV, Rota, IPV is not there. I asked to local hospital they are telling these vaccines are Optional you can skip this. I am bit worried. I want buy these vaccines from Online because in medical shops also these are not available. So I request you to please tell me vaccines name.

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Give penta 1 with OPV and then take IPV when it becomes available. IPV is in short supply but others are freely available in Mumbai. Ask in government hospitals, IPV may be available there. There is nothing optional here. These are additional vaccines, one is advised to give them to the baby if one can afford. Though bit costly they are certainly helpful to prevent the illnesses.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Both are different antibiotics with different action, used for different diseases. You should not use them on your own which causes resistance so that they may not be effective when really needed.

My Daughter suffering from abeniotic band syndrome. What is abeniotic band syndrome? What is causes of this syndrome? How can we protect our children from this syndrome?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Jaipur
Amniotic Band Syndrome occurs when the unborn baby (fetus) becomes entangled in fibrous string-like amniotic bands in the womb, restricting blood flow and affecting the baby’s development. ABS occurs randomly. It’s not genetic, nor is it caused by anything a pregnant Mom did or didn’t do during pregnancy. To date, no prenatal factors have been associated with ABS. It is extremely unlikely that ABS will affect a future pregnancy.

Hi mam my baby is now 10 months old but still her teeth's are not come yet and from 2-3 days she having loose motions and vomiting can you please help me.

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
Hello! the symptoms you told might be good sign of tooth eruption. Though it is about 4 months late sometimes due to certain reasons it happens. Please visit an expert dentist and you may be advised for a full mouth x-ray which is rarely indicated in small babies but in your case a modification and exception can be made. It will reveal the actual problem. Thank you.

How To Correct Foot Deformities in Children?

DNB (Pediatrics), MBBS
Pediatrician, Ghaziabad
How To Correct Foot Deformities in Children?

As babies develop in the mother's womb, there can be many factors, which could hamper normal growth in the embryo. These can result in deformities within the physiology of the baby. One area is bone tissue growth, which in early stages is still cartilage, and can manifest within the baby as deformed feet.

The incidence of deformed feet in infants, although not very common, is still prevalent enough to warrant certain fields of study as to why they happen and their remedies.

Reasons for foot deformities in infants

Some of the reasons for foot deformities within infants are mentioned below:

1. Genetic or hereditary problems - Some problems are passed from one generation to the other, although it may not manifest in the older generations.

2. Infections to the mother during pregnancy - If the mother contracted a disease during pregnancy or had an infection, it can have adverse effects on the developments of the baby and cause deformities.

3. Side effects of medications - If the mother was under medication, side effects of certain medications can cause hormonal imbalances resulting in deformities.

4. Hormonal imbalances - Certain hormonal imbalances present in the mother's body due to overlooked problems may cause issues with the baby's development and result in foot or other physical deformities.

Correction of Foot Deformities

Most corrective measures for foot deformities entail surgery as severe problems can be only corrected through that. These measures may also include other methods such as physiotherapy, massages, and training.

Let's look at some of the techniques, which are used to correct deformities, either in combinations or as standalone techniques.

  • Corrective surgery - This is the most common and usually the most recommended course of action as anything above mild deformities will have to be corrected through surgeries. Most surgeries entail lengthy recuperating periods and follow ups.
  • Corrective footwear - Milder foot deformities can be corrected with special footwear or setting devices such as special braces and supports to correct the problems.
  • Physiotherapy - Certain forms of physiotherapy are effective in correcting mild forms of deformities. However, this tool is usually deployed in conjunction with surgeries to speed up the healing process
  • Exercises - Certain deformities can only be changed with the help of exercise over a long period of time and cannot be fixed quickly even via surgery and thus, will need special care for long periods of time.
