*For your information, many skin creams (mostly fairness cream brands) are considered harmful and banned by Central Govt, Health ministry during March, 2016. The Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists (IADVL) supported the ban. *Your skin ‘breaths’ through its pores which are not to be closed for long. Blocking pores by creams may cause more pimples. HOMOEOPATHIC medicines are taken internally. Hence, NO DIRECT CONTACT with your delicate and sensitive skin, thereby no problem of skin allergy. Homoeopathy has good treatment without causing adverse effects. The medicines work internally, tackle the root of the problem unlike face cream which is a surface treatment. Take Antim crd 200—once daily in the morning.

Homeopathic Treatment of Heartburn and Acidity Accompanied By Bloating!

MBBS, MF- Homeopathy

Homeopathic Treatment of Heartburn and Acidity Accompanied By Bloating!

Stomach produces gastric juices (acid and enzymes) for the digestion process. Acid reflux is a medical condition in which there is back flow of gastric juices/ acids from the stomach to esophagus. Too much reflex can cause the stomach acids to burn the esophagus and can result into serious complications. The esophageal sphincter lies at the junction where the stomach and the esophagus join; lower esophageal sphincter plays a most important role in acid reflux condition. This sphincter allows food to enter the stomach and it prevents the reflux of acidic stomach contents back into esophagus, as a result of malfunctioning of lower esophageal sphincter, condition like acid reflux develops.

Triggers of heart burn

Acid Reflux Symptoms

When it comes to the digestive system, heart burn and acidity are probably two of the most common medical complaints. These conditions may be often be considered synonymous. It is affected by the acid levels in the stomach. Heartburn refers to an irritation in the esophagus by this stomach acid. It is characterized by a burning sensation in the upper abdomen. You may also experience a bloating sensation in the stomach. An antacid can provide relief in cases of acidity but this relief is temporary and superficial. It does not address the root cause of acidity and hence does not reduce the frequency of heartburn attacks.

Homeopathy is a holistic form of medication that can be quite effective in the treatment of heartburn and acidity. This form of treatment does not address only the symptoms present but also looks into the overall physical, mental and emotional health of the person. In doing so, it addresses the root cause of the acidity and treats the problem as a whole. Unlike antacids and other allopathic medications, homeopathy does not follow a one size fits all approach. Though the symptoms may be similar, medication for each case must be customized to suit the patient’s overall health. These are known as constitutional remedies.

According to homeopathy, heart burn and acidity is not a problem in itself but is a symptom of a larger problem. It may be indicating an allergy to a certain food, stress or overeating unhealthy food. Though homeopathy has negligible side effects, in case your heartburn is accompanied by vomiting, nausea, extreme pain or dehydration, you must seek advice from a homeopathic doctor and not try to treat yourself. Homeopathic medication can relieve the symptoms of acidity as well as strengthen your digestive system so as to reduce the chances of recurrent acidity attacks. If your acidity is triggered by an allergy, it can also help treat this allergy.

Homeopathic medication is derived from natural sources. These medications are usually mild and do not overtake the body’s immune system to treat a condition but support and strengthen it. Some of the common homeopathic remedies used to treat heart burn include Nux Vomica, Arsenicum, Ipecacuanha, and Podophyllum. The best medication for you will depend on the intensity of your symptoms, the food you feel it has been triggered by and any other symptoms you may be experiencing. Along with knowing the right medication, it is also important for it to be consumed in the right dosage and frequency.

LOW BACK PAIN EXERCISE, DEAR YOU FOLLOW THIS EXERCISE. LUMBAR EXTENSION STRETCHES Generally these are good for individuals who may have a disc herniation. They should be performed with caution for anyone who has spinal stenosis or any known fractures in their vertebrae. Prone Press Up: Begin by lying on your stomach with your elbows bent underneath you and palms flat on the surface. Keeping your hips and pelvis in contact with the surface, lift your upper torso off the mat with your arms, keeping your back muscles relaxed. Only go as high as you are comfortable. Perform 10 repetitions holding each one for 10 seconds each, working your way to 30 seconds Generally, the flexion based stretches are good for those with spinal stenosis or tightness through the lower lumbar musculature. Single Knee to Chest: Begin by lying on your back with both knees bent. Bring one knee up towards your chest. Perform 2-3 repetitions, holding each one for 15-30 seconds. You may feel a stretch along the lower back or buttocks area. You may also perform this with both legs up towards your chest if it is comfortable Prayer Stretch or Child’s Pose: This stretch is for the lower back muscles along the spine and is a very common yoga pose. On your hands and knees, sit back so your buttocks is resting on your heels. Reach your hands forward to lengthen your spine and feel a stretch in your middle back. You can reach your hands to either side to focus the stretch on the opposite side of your spine. Hold for 10-30 seconds and perform 2-3 repetitions. Angry Cat Stretch: This stretch can incorporate both an extension and a flexion component. You may perform either way or just one way if that is more comfortable for you. On your hands and knees, let your belly sag towards the table to increase extension through your spine (lumbar extension picture). To increase flexion through your spine, arch your back upwards, bringing your spine away from the table (lumbar flexion picture). You may hold each position for 5-20 seconds and repeat several times NERVE STRETCHES Just as you can stretch a muscle, you can stretch a nerve. Nerve stretches are very important to perform if you have any radiating pain from your lower back into your buttocks or legs. Nerve stretches are also very important to perform after lumbar surgery to ensure that there is no scar tissue adhering the nerve to any internal structures. Sciatic Nerve Stretch: This stretch should be performed if the majority of the radiating pain into the legs is felt in the buttocks, back of the leg, and/or through the calf and foot. This follows the pathway of the sciatic nerve. By stretching the nerve, it can help to desensitize it so that it will not cause as much pain. Perform this stretch by lying on your back with your hand behind one knee, preferable the leg with the sciatic pain. Straighten your knee then alternate flexing your ankle back and forth. Only hold your ankle in each position for a few seconds. Perform 10 repetitions on each side. As with beginning any new exercise, start off slowly with a very gentle stretch. Stop if you have any increase in lower back pain or sciatic pain down your leg. If unsure whether you should perform these stretches, consult your doctor or physical therapist. DEAR………. Shoulder pain Physiotherapy uses a number of different physical methods to promote healing. If you are referred to a physiotherapist, they should explain to you what treatment they will use and how it will work. Possible treatments include: •specific shoulder exercises – for example, if you have shoulder instability, you may be given exercises to strengthen your shoulder •massage – where the physiotherapist uses their hands to manipulate your shoulder Read more about some of the different techniques used inphysiotherapy. Shoulder exercises If you have shoulder pain, it's important to keep your shoulder joint mobile with light and gentle movement. Not using your shoulder can cause your muscles to waste away and may make any stiffness worse. Therefore, if possible, you should continue using your shoulder as normal. If your shoulder is very stiff, exercise may be painful. Your GP or physiotherapist can give you exercises to do without further damaging your shoulder. You may be given exercises to do on your own, or you may complete the exercises with supervision from your GP or physiotherapist. You may also have manual therapy, where the healthcare professional moves your arm for you. Manual therapy uses special techniques to move the joints and soft tissues in your shoulder. One review of a number of studies found that long-term physiotherapy was as effective as surgery for impingement syndrome (any type of damage to the tendons in the rotator cuff). I HOPE U WILL FITT AND FINE.

There are many modalities of treatment for keloids. However none is full proof. Keloids have a tendency to recur. So it is best if you could discuss all the pros and cons of all the treatments with your plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Intralesional therapy meaning injection of certain medicines either singularly or in combination are known to have good result.

What You Need To Know About Knee Replacement?

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics , FNB - Spine Surgery, Fellow in Spine Surgery, Fellowship In Paediatric Spine Surgery

What You Need To Know About Knee Replacement?

Knee replacement is a surgery wherein an artificial joint is used to replace a diseased, damaged or worn out knee. This surgery is common among people who fall in the age group of 60-80, but recent trends seem to suggest that younger people are opting for this surgery as well. The lifetime of the artificial knee joint is around 20 years, provided the knee is well cared for.

Why do you need Knee Replacement?

Most common reason is “high grade osteoarthritis” due to wear and tear of the knee joint. The pre-hospital study of the Knee joint is mandatory and would decide what kind of Replacement is suitable to the patient. If there is diabetes or hypertension associated with this, then it should be controlled well before undergoing surgery. Hemoglobin of at least 10 gm% is required.

If the mobility in your knee joint is reduced leading to impaired functioning of the knee joint, then you might need a knee replacement surgery. You may experience pain while walking, sitting and, in some cases, resting as well.

Some of the common reasons why you may opt for this particular surgery are:

  1. Gout, where, small crystals are formed inside the joint.
  2. Rheumatoid Arthritis, an autoimmune disorder, wherein the immune system of the body attacks the body’s healthy tissues.
  3. Hemophilia, wherein, the blood ceases to clot normally.
  4. Injuries to the knee
  5. Disorders that cause unusual bone growth (bone dysplasias)
  6. Death of bone in the knee joint following blood supply problems (avascular necrosis)
  7. Knee deformity with pain and loss of cartilage
  8. Unusual growth of bones in the knee joint

Knee replacement surgery is classified into:

1. Partial Knee Replacement: In this surgery, only one part of the joint is replaced.

2. Total Knee Replacement: Total knee replacement surgery involves replacement of both sides of the knee joint.

The usual hospital stay period is around 2-3 days after the surgery is completed. Initially, you will require the help of crutches to walk for at least 2 months. You may also be asked to do gentle knee strengthening exercises. It may take up to two years to recover completely from a knee replacement surgery.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. The values mentioned are fairly normal. TGL 200 mg is not really a problem at all. If the levels go above 300 to 400 mg or more, then you need to worry about. Your weight appears to be a bit more than what it should be considering the age. About 50 kgs is fine. So please work towards reducing it. That will improve TGL levels. There is no mention about blood glucose levels or HbA1c%, so no idea how well is diabetes controlled. Thanks.

If You Look Good, People Treat You Better

If You Look Good, People Treat You Better

Looks are very important as they cast the first impression of a person and of course, first impression is the last impression. When you meet someone, the person will first judge you by your looks. People will judge you by your character only after they come to know you.

Looks revel a lot about a person; you know what, sometimes some people’s character is radiated by their looks. Some people not only look innocent but they are also very innocent, the innocence radiates from their face. While some people’s haughtiness can be detected by their looks.

The world revolves around looks, I remember reading a quote on facebook once wherein it was written, “If you look good, people treat you better” and I think that is true. People tend to judge others by looks and treat others accordingly. Hence, it is clear that you should make a fair attempt to look good as people judge you and treat you by looking at you.

To look good, you need to be healthy as looks and health go hand in hand. If you are healthy then you will automatically look good. So in order to be healthy you should have at least some control over your eating and you should work out daily.

Health is related to food, because we get energy from food but mind you, we get energy from ‘good food’ not form ‘junk food’. Junk food cause health problems a lot health problems, it make you obese and look fat. Obesity is the major health problem as of today as obesity can cause aches and pains, diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure and what not, plus it makes you look fat and ugly.

Hence, to look good and be healthy you have to avoid unhealthy food, eat properly, eat moderately, and eat more fruits and vegetables. Most of the people tend to forget one thing that we “eat to live” and not “live to eat”, and if you grasp this concept then you will automatically look, good and be healthy.

To look slim and trim, people work out for hours in the gym but they forget that diet plays a much more important role than exercise. I am not saying that you should not work out, I am saying that workout but along with that watch your diet too.

Hence, good diet and exercise are two things, which make you healthy, and if you are healthy then you will look beautiful.
