I have developed a little ulcer near the leukoplakia area under the right side of my tongue. Will it automatically disappear and can be automatically cured if can leave smoking?

Hi lybrate-user Since the ulcer is near an area which you have written as "leukoplakia" I assume that you must have taken an opinion from a specialist. The ulcer should actually heal, but I assume that erythroplakia (redness along with white patchof leukoplakia) has been ruled out. Also, I would suggest that since the ulcer is in the area of leukoplakia, a biopsy should be done to rule out any malignant changes.

Dear Lybrate user, the condition of teeth seems to be alarming and demands immediate dentist attention. Pain on eating something sweet and pain on pressing around the decayed tooth indicates advanced damage. Don't worry about the tumor because the pain could just be due to dental infection or pus formation around the decaying tooth. The yellowness is probably due to plaque build up because of poor oral hygiene. See your dentist soon before any further damage ensues. Use a fluoridated toothpaste to brush your teeth twice daily for healthy teeth.

Kind of toothbrush to be used by adults:       We recommend a brush with soft bristles which helps in removing the plaque and debris thoroughly from the mouth.

I'm having severe toothache. Though I kept cloves as one of my friends suggested the pain has not reduced. Can I get any home remedy for immediate relief.

Hello lybrate-user, the fact that you have got replacement done at a very age is possibly affecting the excess growth of tissue. The time at which replacement is done coincides with the hormonal fluctuations which adversely affects the gums health. Additionally, the use of metal in duplicate teeth can also induce formation of extra tissue. The tissue also affects the esthetics and gum health. I advise you to go for a thorough clinical check up, assess the extent of infection and determine the best possible treatment to prevent repeated discomfort.

How To Maintain Oral Hygiene?

BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Play video

Hello friends! Myself Dr. Shelly Gupta. I have BDS from Sudha Rustagi College of Dental Sciences Research, Faridabad.

Today I want to discuss some tips with you all regarding how to maintain good oral hygiene. For this few things are very important. First is brushing, second toothpaste, third flossing and fourth is mouthwash. Now we will discuss all these things one by one. First is tooth brushing, selection of toothbrush is more important rather than a selection of a toothpaste. We should brush our teeth twice daily and our toothbrush should be soft. We should change our brush in every 3 months.

Change of toothbrush in every 3 months is more important and you can change it before time also. Floss before every brushing. Dental floss is a thin waxed thread which gently slides debris between teeth and eradicates plague, keeping mouth free from bacteria. Floss should be wrapped between around the fingers and then stretched tightly between the thumbs. Floss should be moved carefully up and down the side of the teeth. Other interdental devices are an interdental toothbrush, rubber or wooden tips.

A dentist is trained to determine the need of the patient that which kind of interdental device he or she should use. Now the third is mouthwash, the recommended dose of mouthwash is 10ml. rinse with 10ml solution of mouthwash once after breakfast and once at bedtime. Now the next point comes about the toothpaste. High fluoride content containing toothpaste must be used in case of dental advice only otherwise anyone can use toothpaste of creamy consistency.

Now the question arises that where does the dentist fit into good oral hygiene? Visit your dentist in every 6-12 months. The dentist is able to recommended cleaning techniques and products. Clean plague and calculus from teeth, fill cavities that could lead to further tooth decay. Administer fluoride treatment, treat mild gingivitis before it turns into periodontitis, take radiographs, reinforce oral hygiene instructions over the long term. So for further queries, you can contact me.

Thank you!

Hello lybrate-user, The small pus on tooth gum might be a draining sinus due to infection of tooth due to caries or trauma. This type of infection needs root canal treatment. Sometimes, the small pus maybe due to gums infection also. In that case treatment of gums is needed. Kindly visit your dentist again and give him/her proper history and report this pus formation on tooth gum.

Nite bruxism can be of two types. Day and night also called diurnal n nocturnal. It can be a result of several things one of them being stress. Cold etc. Yes there are treatments. Dentists usually make customised mouth guards for the patient t to wear so that it prevents dental damage. And try n reach the source of the problem to counsel them out of it. The habit has to broken to prevent temperomandibular joint dysfunctions mpds that is pain in jaw opening joint n jaw. Teeth wear. Tooth decay. Loss of vertical height due to that. Etc. It would be highly recommended you take him to a good oral pathologist or a pedodontist or a multi speciality dental clinic so that they may help you deal with the problem well good luck.

You need to visit a dentist to get your teeth checked and get appropriate treatment as early as possible. You might need teeth extraction if you wait longer.
