People suffering from lactose intolerance find it difficult to digest the lactose or sugar in milk, which results in gas, bloating or even diarrhea. Prevent iron deficiency in children
Take steps to prevent iron deficiency in your child by paying attention to his or her diet. For example:
- Breast-feed or use iron-fortified formula. Breast-feeding until your child is age 1 is recommended. If you don't breast-feed, use iron-fortified infant formula.
- Encourage a balanced diet. When you begin serving your baby solids, typically between ages 4 months and 6 months, feed him or her foods with added iron, such as iron-fortified baby cereal. For older children, good sources of iron include red meat, chicken, fish, beans and dark green leafy vegetables. Between ages 1 and 5, don't allow your child to drink more than 24 ounces (710 milliliters) of milk a day.
- Enhance absorption. Vitamin C helps promote the absorption of dietary iron. You can help your child absorb iron by offering foods rich in vitamin C, such as melon, strawberries, kiwi, broccoli, tomatoes and potatoes.
- Consider iron supplements. If your baby was born prematurely or with a low birth weight or you're breast-feeding a baby older than 4 months and he or she isn't eating two or more servings a day of iron-rich foods, talk to your child's doctor about oral iron supplements.

Bedwetting causes stress
Know that bedwetting is often a normal part of growing up. Most children don't stay dry at night until about the age of 3. And it's usually not a concern for parents until around age 6. There are ways to work toward dry nights as a family.
Reassure your child by being supportive. He isn't wetting the bed on purpose. And bedwetting isn't typically a sign of an emotional or physical problem. Explain that it is normal, very common and that he won't always wet the bed.

If she's 4 or older, ask for her ideas. What might help her stop wetting the bed? brainstorm together. Drinking less in the evening and cutting back on caffeinated drinks may be worth trying. You can also offer options like disposable underwear or waterproof sheets. By keeping it positive and involving her, you'll help build her confidence and encourage good bedtime habits
Praise and reward for staying dry
When your child has a dry night, praise her for it. Some families mark wet days and dry days on a calendar. Stickers or stars can make it fun. If your child stays dry a number of nights in a row, offer a small reward for a fun breakfast or small book. If she wets, be supportive and remind her that results will come if she keeps up her efforts
Provide simple reminders
Make using the bathroom just before he gets in bed part of his bedtime routine. Also, remind him that it's ok to get up during the night to use the bathroom. Nightlights can help him find his own way when he needs to go.
Resist the urge to wake your child a lot during the night. If you use this approach, waking once a night should be enough, perhaps right before you go to bed yourself. Keep in mind that if you deprive your child of rest and sleep, you may increase his level of stress. Stress can be a bedwetting trigger.
Involve your child in cleaning up
When he wets the bed, he can put his pjs in the hamper or help you change the sheets. Make sure he understands it's not a punishment, just part of what has to be done. The idea is to make him more aware of his bedwetting without scolding him or making him feel ashamed
Clean up: removing the smell of urine
Accidents happen. And when they do, urine can leave a stubborn odor in clothes and in bed linens. Try adding a half cup to a cup of white vinegar to your wash to remove the smell.
Cleaning a mattress: step 1
If you need to clean urine from a mattress, first use towels to blot up as much as you can. Keep blotting, but don't rub, until no more moisture comes to the surface.
Once you've blotted up as much of the urine as you can, saturate the entire area of urine stain with hydrogen peroxide. Let it stand for 5 minutes, and then use towels again to blot the area dry.
Once the mattress is dry, sprinkle baking soda over the entire area and let it stand for 24 hours. The next day, vacuum the baking soda away. It should be clean and odor free.
If your child is nervous about sleepovers, remind her of the steps she uses to stay dry at home. Giving her disposable underwear and extra clothes in case of an accident might put her at ease. A sleeping bag with waterproof lining may also help.
Beforehand, notify the adult host that your child may have some worries about bedwetting. Discuss your child's plans for handling it so everyone feels prepared.
Some medications (desipramine, desmopressin, or imipramine) may help for special occasions when your older child wants to stay dry, such as at camp.
Be patient about bedwetting
Scolding or losing your temper won't make your child stop wetting the bed. Don't bring up bedwetting in front of others to try to shame her. Embarrassment will only increase her stress and anxiety. Meanwhile, remember that bedwetting eventually does stop. Try practicing patience and providing support while you wait.
Dealing with teasing in the home
Bedwetting can make your child an easy target for teasing. To help him handle it, make your home safe for him. Don't allow anyone in your family to tease about it. Explain to siblings that bedwetting is something their brother doesn't have control over and that he needs everybody's love and support.
If your child avoids other children or comes home with unexplained injuries, she may be being bullied. Listen to what your child says. Talk with her and let her know that you know it's not her fault. Then talk with people at her school and ask what they've seen. Be proactive and work with the school to find ways to make the teasing stop.
When to call the doctor
If your child is still bedwetting at age 7, consider setting up a doctor's visit. While there may be a medical problem, most of the time there isn't. Also, see the doctor if your child suddenly starts wetting the bed after being dry for 6 months or more.

Food allergies can have on those little aches and pains that we often pass off as nothing. I believe the first step in dealing with acute and chronic pain is to rule out allergens as you may likely nip the issue in the bud by doing a very simple allergen test.

Herbs such as turmeric and ginger are known to be natural pain remedies, so when you’re cooking, be sure to add one or both of these ingredients to your meals. I especially love these two ingredients in smoothies.
It’s a known fact that a lot of joint pain can be a result of stagnation in the muscles and joints. Now, starting to run a 10km is not what I would suggest. In fact, I’m suggesting light weight training, low impact walking, pilates or yoga. These all really help to get your joints in motion and reduce stiffness and pain. Light weight training can also strength the muscles surrounding your affected joint, providing them more support.
Normally, I would list off a selection of supplements to help you reduce symptoms of pain and begin the healing process. At the same time, if you are taking medications, there can be certain contradictions that may impede on the effectiveness of the medications. So, again, I encourage you to consult with your medical practitioner.
I would certainly recommend that you start with a high-quality multi-vitamin or mineral supplement especially if your dietary choices haven’t been the best. Now, this doesn’t imply that you should take supplements and then continue to make poor food choices. I don’t personally take a multi-vitamin anymore as I always create a plate that is 75% vibrant, fresh vegetables that provide what I need.

Lime The citric acid found in lime is a solvent of the uric acid .The juice of half a lime squeezed into a glass of water should be taken twice daily.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 4 minutes
1 cup sago (sabudana) 1/2 cup roasted peanuts, crushed2 medium potatoes, cubed1/2 tsp cumin seeds (jeera) 2 green chillies, slit2 tbsp oilsalt to taste
Wash the sago. Drain and keep aside for about 2 hours. If necessary, sprinkle a little water over the sago to moisten it. In a glass bowl, combine the oil, cumin seeds, green chillies and potatoes. Cover with a lid and microwave on high for 2 minutes until the potatoes are tender. Add the soaked sago, peanuts and salt and mix well. Cover with a lid and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Serve hot with green chutney or curds.

Myth: Inhaled steroids are harmful and addictive.
A lot of people confuse inhaled steroids with anabolic steroids that are used in sports and fitness. Inhaled steroids are asthma preventer medications, and currently, these medications are the only way to keep severe asthma under control. They are effective and non-addictive.
Myth: Children outgrow asthma.
It is a misconception that children who have asthma outgrow it by the time they hit puberty. The disease does go into remission in some kids around puberty, but this is not because the asthma has been cured. Most often, the symptoms strike again, and sometimes the asthma returns when young adults start consuming alcohol.
Myth: Smoking does not affect asthma.
False! Smoking is a major asthma trigger, which is why people with asthma have an even stronger reason than most to quit this harmful habit. Many people with asthma find when they quit smoking they experience significantly fewer symptoms and less frequent asthma attacks.
Myth: Moving to a dry climate can cure asthma.
It's true that a change in environment may temporarily put off asthma symptoms, but it's not possible that this will cure the disease. Many people find that their symptoms reduce when they're at the countryside or the coast. Eventually, allergens will trigger the symptoms again.
To reduce asthma triggers at home, make sure your house is dust-free. Clean your fans and AC units often. Avoid carpeting and other furnishings that trap dust and mould. Keeps your windows closed during pollen season. If humid climate is a trigger for you, use a dehumidifier in your home.
Myth: It's normal to use your inhaler at least once a day.
Not true! If you are regularly your inhaler to treat asthma symptoms more than twice a week, then it is obvious that your condition is not under control. It's important that you see your doctor and talk about what's going on.
