4 Stretching Exercises That Will Improve Your Flexibility!

Stretching is very important for your well-being. Not only does it help you become more agile and flexible, it helps you become better at sports and also makes sure that you have fewer injuries when you are playing sports.

Here are some exercises which are guaranteed to make sure that your flexibility will improve:

  1. The runner's stretch: In this stretch, put your right foot forward and then try to touch the floor with your fingertips. If your fingers do not reach the floor, place them as far down as possible. You have to then inhale, and go back to your starting position.
  2. The standing side stretch: This stretch starts when you are standing straight upwards with your arms raised above your head and your fingers interlocked. When you breathe out you have to slowly bend your upper body to the right then return to the starting position. After you have reached the starting position, you inhale again and after you have inhaled, you have to stretch your upper body to the left.
  3. The forward hang: In this stretch, your starting position is when you stand with your legs apart and then you lock your fingers together and place them behind your back. Once this is done, you breathe in. After breathing in, you have to exhale by bending forward and keeping your hands interlocked above your head. You have to hold this position for 5 seconds.
  4. The low lunge arch: This stretch involves bringing you right leg as forward as possible and then lowering your left knee onto the floor. You then have to lock your hands together with your palms facing the floor and your hands in front of your body. You then have to inhale for the stretch. The stretch involves lifting your arms as far up as possible and then stretching as far back as possible keeping your legs in the position they were already in. Once you have finished this exercise, you have to do the exact same thing with the left leg in front.

Paralysis - How Physiotherapy Can Be Helpful?

Paralysis is a chronic medical disease characterized by a loss of muscle function in the body accompanied by sensory loss. The patient is unable to control the paralysed muscle consciously. Most common causes of injury are stroke, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury and head injury.  There are 4 types of paralysis and the effect may be complete or partial. The effect may be confined to only one space or multiple areas; and it may affect one or both sides of the body. Paralysis, on one hand, can be brief and may last for a short time; if not, it can be long term or permanent too. 

Physiotherapy is a health care profession wherein diseases are assessed, diagnosed and treated via exercise. It is also used to prevent a particular disability or disease. Science has yet to discover a cure for paralysis but the aim of physiotherapy is to make the patient as independent as possible. Depending on the affected area and the extent of paralysis, physiotherapy is started. Doctors recommend physiotherapy for paralysis for the following reasons

  1. Physiotherapy should be started immediately because it improves blood circulation and relaxes the affected muscles. It can also inhibit the advancement of paralysis and develop muscle tone and the general well-being of the patient.
  2. If the brain has suffered a severe external injury, physiotherapy assists in reducing the swelling and fastens the recovery process.
  3. It aims at making the patient mobile and fully functioning.
  4. Physiotherapy focuses on the maintenance of respiratory function.
  5. Prevents pressure sores and contracture.
  6. The physiotherapist sometimes works on unaffected muscles to compensate for the paralysed ones. Physiotherapy maintains and builds muscular strength in the affected areas. This action prevents deformation of limbs.
  7. Physiotherapy training helps in managing paralyzed bladder and bowel movements.
  8. Physiotherapy helps in building the morale of the patient and motivates the patient to be independent.
  9. A side effect of Paralysis is post-traumatic depression that includes anxiety, denial hostility. The patient is often angry which may worsen his condition. Physiotherapy helps in controlling these feelings and gives the patient hope.
  10. A physiotherapist suggests adaptive and modern equipment such as a splint, orthosis, braces as well as a cane for the disabled person depending on severity of the condition.

Plantar Fasciitis - 3 Exercises That Can Help Relieve Pain!

Plantar fasciitis is the inflammation of fascial ligament (the plantar fascia) at the base of the heel bone. It is a commonly experienced heel pain condition which is caused due to injury or even wear and tear as well as excess weight gain, in some cases. The plantar fascia is the name given to a flat band of connective tissue that holds the foot and the rest of the leg in place with the heel in between. This also supports the foot’s arch and helps in connecting the heel bones to the toes. When there is inflammation as well as weakness in this tissue band, then pain may occur and is known as plantar fasciitis.

It may occur in one foot or both feet and may also be caused due to old age, for many individuals. Also, those who are heavily into athletics can also face this kind of wear and tear of the plantar fascia. As with many pain-related conditions, this one can also be treated with regular and moderate exercises that can be practiced to build flexibility and strength.

Let us find out more about the three exercises that are most suited for treating this condition.

  1. Stretching: Stretching is an exercise that can help in repairing most joint and tissue pain as it helps in pulling the damaged parts back into the right place, especially if any kind of misalignment has occurred. This kind of action can also have a soothing effect when the pain increases. You can stretch your calves in order to help the pain that is caused by plantar fasciitis. You can start by facing the wall and placing your right foot over the left one. Then, place your palms on the wall and remain at a distance of one arm. You will then need to bend you left leg in a forward motion as your right leg and heel press against the ground. Hold for 30 seconds and release. Then, repeat with the other leg.
  2. Chair stretch: Another way of doing stretch exercises is with the help of a chair. You will need to sit on a chair and remain in an upright position for this exercise. Keep a frozen water bottle or cylinder under your foot and roll it back and forth as you maintain a firm grip using your foot and heel.
  3. Big toe stretch: While you are still seated on the chair, you can do a big toe stretch by crossing your leg over the knee and pushing and pulling your big toe. This will help in stretching the tissue that is causing the pain. You will need to pull and hold for at least 15 to 30 seconds for each toe. Practice on both feet.

Shoulder pain occurs due to injury to the shoulder or and over straining the joints and muscles, over head activities or sport activities, so shoulder joint is not one single joint its a complex of joints where acromioclavicular joint, sc joint and glenohumeral joint so people with shoulder pain may be having an iasue of ac joint or glenohumeral joint or muscle strain or imingmebt of the muscles there are several muscles ligaments and other soft tissues inside so people if any pain dont massage the structure or pain part thinking it may be normal pain, you should first consult the spcialist first for the problem after the problem diagnosed then treatment would be accordingly, dont delay the problem might become chronic and may cause further damage, dont do self treatments applying oils gels or taking pin killers of your wish, first see the doctor and then go on with advice of the expert, thank you.

I am 80 kgs and 5'8" tall. Due to excessive fat I start running. After running for 2-3 days I am experiencing a Lot of pain in my both leg. The pain is in the inner and inside potion of both leg between ankle and knee The pain is so severe that I am not able to run.

The thing is due to lot of weight in your upper body, your lower part may be weak your leg muscles, so first work on the legs to get strength and strong then start with a walk that to sustained slow pace walk, and keep rest for some time if you have pain then use hot fermentation to your legs.
