While it would be best to approach an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and possible physiotherapy, you may try at home with a warm pack, pain ointment, while avoiding stairs for 2-3 days. Generally such pain comes from the cartilage lining of the knee cap, but may have other causes as well.

Depends on how long after injury. If its been two days since injury, moving around will be uncomfortable. You could use a stockinette under your brace to reduce irritation. Ice packs, pain-killer ointments, gentle movement and static strengthening exercises. If it has been a while since injury, you could start closed chain exercises. Some types of ACL injury are repairable, others need the whole ACL reconstructured.

I am having pain near around left side of my right knee veins since one week making it difficult for me to sit on floor or walk properly. The pain is only in and around left side of knee cap (not on joint) Sometimes the pain is unbearable and sometimes light but it has rarely stopped. Doc had suggested two blood tests. Results are as under: RF (serum) is 57.7 (Method: Immunoturbidimetric test) (20 considered normal) And Anti CCP is Less than 7 (Less than 17 is normal) (Method: Electro-Chemiluminescence) Is this RA? I am worried. Please advise.

Rheumatoid arthritis generally presents with symmetrical joint involvement, both sides of body, along with joint swelling and morning stiffness of joints, lasting for more than an hour. With these absent, and a negative anti-CCP, it is unlikely, not impossible to be RA. Maybe an excessive strain on knee cap, that requires avoiding aggravating activity, hot packs, painkiller ointment and physiotherapy. Your doctor may prescribe some painkillers to tide over acute phases. If there is no response in a week, you may opt for radiological tests. If you are doubtful about RA, you could see a rheumatologist.

If it isn't painful and doesn't restrict range of motion, use a crepe bandage for compression. Please don't tie so tight as to leave a mark. Use warm packs with omnigel. Avoid kneeling or squatting, and move ankle/toes frequently. If it doesn't subside, or if it's painful and/or restricts movement, best to consult an orthopedic surgeon.

- compress - use a cloth or crepe bandage, but not so tight as to leave a mark

-elevate - keep that injured part at a higher level

Hiii, I got an accident before 6 year in my knee (torn of acl nd meniscus of grade 3) and right now my injured leg is getting thinner as compare to other leg. But right now I can not get surgery. I will get my surgery done after 4 month. What should I do to avoid thinning of leg? And is there any problem in delaying surgery?

Delay in ACL surgery more than 6 months, does affect outcome. since it's already 6 years, another 4 months won't make a difference, provided:- 1) all activities that increase pain and instability are avoided 2) exercises are done regularly. That will also restore bulk of your leg to some extent
