Tender Gums is a condition in which the gums are inflamed or swollen. Tender Gums often bulge or protrude in such a way that they hide part or whole of the teeth. Tender Gums usually appear red instead of the normal pink color. Symptoms of Tender Gums are:
• Swollen or inflamed gums
• Reddish colored gums
• Pain while chewing or brushing
HOW IS TENDER GUMS DIAGNOSED?
Dentists perform a complete examination of the teeth and gums while diagnosing Tender Gums. The doctor may look for symptoms of gingivitis and other gum related issues. They may even look for blisters or boils. In some cases, tissue from the affected area is taken for microscopic examination
HOW IS TENDER GUMS TREATED?
The best way to treat gum disease is to practise good oral hygiene, although additional dental and medical treatments are sometimes necessary which include:
• Scale and polish
• Root planning
• periodontal surgery.
Mouthwash containing chlorhexidine or hydrogen peroxide may be prescribed. Paracetamol and ibuprofen are the most commonly prescribed painkillers.
