Malignant fibrous Histiocytoma also known as pleomorphic undifferentiated sarcoma and fibrosarcoma is a soft tissue tumour or sarcoma. Patients would have painless lumps on the affected area. Fatigue and weight loss is observed in some patients in the advanced stages of this disease.
HOW IS MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA DIAGNOSED?
MRI scans are the most widely used method of diagnosing malignant fibrous histiocytoma as it is able to clearly show the tumour and muscle. CT scans are also sometimes used to diagnose this disorder. A biopsy can also be advised to confirm the diagnosis.
HOW IS MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA TREATED?
Treatment for this form of cancer too includes radiation, chemotherapy and in some cases the surgical removal of tissues, if they are not widely spread.
