Insomnia in Children is a sleep disorder in children. Difficulty in falling asleep, early waking or inadequate sleep in children is characterized as Insomnia in Children. Symptoms are:
• Night time snoring
• Gasping or choking
• Daytime sleepiness
• Teeth grinding
• Nightmares and night terrors
HOW IS INSOMNIA IN CHILDREN DIAGNOSED?
There is no specific test for insomnia. The diagnosis is based on symptoms and the exclusion of other medical problems, psychiatric problems and other sleep disorders.
HOW IS INSOMNIA IN CHILDREN TREATED?
There are no medications to induce sleep in children but sometimes paediatricians would prescribe drugs which make one sleepy such as antihistamines to children.
