Hemochromatosis is known by many sub categories like Juvenile Hemochromatosis and Classic Hemochromatosis, but the condition is primarily a genetically precipitated condition and refers to excess storage of iron within the body system and the symptoms show up quite early in life, even in childhood. The most frequently reported symptom is the non-functioning of the testes in the males and the ovary in females. There can be other symptoms as well depending on the severity of the condition.

Hemochromatosis gene (HFE) testing is a blood test used to check for hereditary hemochromatosis, an inherited disorder that causes the body to absorb too much iron.
HOW IS HEMOCHROMATOSIS TREATED?
Treatments include having blood taken out of the body on a regular schedule and taking medicines called chelating agents.
