The Chancroid infection is caused by the Haemophilus Ducreyi bacteria, which affects the tissue and leads to the growth of an open sore in the reproductive area. This is also known as an ulcer. It is also a contagious infection. The symptoms include red bumps, bleeding ulcers, swollen lymph nodes and swelling in the groin region.
HOW IS CHANCROID DIAGNOSED?
A general physiciancan diagnose this condition by examining the discharge from the sores. The symptoms can be easily confused with other STDs such as herpes or syphills.
HOW IS CHANCROID TREATED?
Chancroid may be successfully treated with medication however it may clear up without treatment and subside on its own but medication will help recover faster and reduce the occurrence of scars. A surgery of draining out the lymph nodes may be recommended in severe cases.
