Cardiac arrhythmia, also known as cardiac dysrhythmia or irregular heartbeat, is a group of conditions in which the heartbeat is irregular, too fast, or too slow. Too fast called tachycardia, too slow called bradycardia. Many types of arrhythmia have no symptoms, if at all present, includes palpiations or feeling a pause between hearbeats. Usually, medication and lifestyle changes are prescribed by the cardiologist in order to deal with the issue. Antiarrhythmic medicines as well as anti coagulants and antiplatelet therapy can be used for treatment. Severe cases may require electrical cardioversion with an electric shock to the chest walls or the installation of a pacemaker.
