The main types of therapies include lifestyle modification and pharmacological interventions. Lifestyle modifications usually aim the avoidance of food which irritates the stomach like spices, citrus, chocolate, coffee, mint, garlic etc. Stress management is also important to decrease the formation of excessive acid in the stomach. Patients can engage in yoga activities and meditation in order to gain emotional relaxation. In addition, losing weight, quitting smoking and alcohol and regular exercises will also help to keep the gastric acid under control.
