This Zinc deficiency disorder is born due to the impairment of zinc metabolism in the body. This disorder is usually accompanied by ailments like Brandt Syndrome, Congenital Zinc Deficiency, Danbolt Cross Syndrome and others. It is basically an intestinal problem which can also lead to phases of emotional irritability. It can also lead to hair loss, loose motions and weight loss.
HOW IS ACRODERMATITIS ENTEROPATHICA DIAGNOSED?
It is difficult to differentiate acquired zinc deficiencies from acrodermatitis enteropathica due to very similar presentations. Common diagnosis methods are: biotin and multiple carboxylase deficiencies, deficiency of essential fatty acids, HIV disease, Kwashiorkor and Glutaric Aciduria type1.
HOW IS ACRODERMATITIS ENTEROPATHICA TREATED?
Treatment of Acrodermatitis includes total or partial replacement of zinc inside body. Cortisone based creams can help with irritation of skin and itching. Infections of Hepatitis B or Epstein Barr needs to be treated.
