Symptoms of abandoned child syndrome, which is a psychological or behavioral condition is due to loss of parents or physical abuse, starts from withdrawal from social periphery, depression, fear, resistance towards others, sleeping and eating disorders, fatigue, inclination towards drug and alcohol, anger etc. Causes may be related to lack of proper supervision by parents, physical abuse, sexual assault at a tender age, or verbal abuse by elders.

Mood swings, anger and guilt are usually studied in order to diagnose the abandoned child syndrome. The therapist can study a pattern of emotional neglect which the individual has faced in order to understand the extent of the trauma.
HOW IS ABANDONED CHILD SYNDROME TREATED?
Abandoned Child Syndrome may be treated through prolonged counseling by experts, or through proper medication. Certain therapies like Interpersonal therapy, group therapy, intensive family therapy, psychodrama, equine therapy, dramatic experience, journaling are few methods that are adopted by experts to treat the disorder.
