Hamstring Strain or hamstring injury is usually a sign of some kind of physical damage or stress to your hamstring area. It is accompanied with acute pain, trouble moving around, problems in stretching the area along with swelling and redness in the back of your thighs too. There could also be internal and external bruising.
HOW IS HAMSTRING STRAIN DIAGNOSED?
Diagnosis of the same is done by a general physician who would examine your hamstring and leg area. He/ she could then ask for an X-ray to check if there is any tear in the ligament too.
HOW IS HAMSTRING STRAIN TREATED?
The treatment for the hamstring strain includes:
• Rest the leg
• Application of ice on the leg
• Compress the leg
• Elevation of the leg
• Take anti-inflammatory painkillers. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
• Practice stretching and strengthening exercises
