Diastema is a dental condition characterized by space or gap between the teeth. The space is commonly found between incisors and molars. It is more common in children but can exist in adults as well. It is caused by the unequal relationship between teeth size and jaw. Symptom is the presence of a gap between teeth, between the front teeth in humans
HOW IS DIASTEMA DIAGNOSED?
The diagnosis of diastema is done by a dentist who will perform a thorough physical examination and get details of medical history and dental care routine to detect the cause of problem.
HOW IS DIASTEMA TREATED?
There are different treatment options available to treat different types of diastema. If it is a mild gap, a dental retainer is all that is needed. Surgery may be needed to correct a major gap.
