My husband is 61 years, he is suffering right side neck nerve pain for two days, due to this he could not chew hard food items, and couldn't lift heavy vehicles like scooter, please advise him for his early recovery.

Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Tennis Elbow - How to Prevent it?

Tennis elbow is a condition, which is characterized by the inflammation of the tendons occurring in the elbow region due to excess use of the muscle groups present in the overarm. Tennis elbow can cause a lot of distress once it occurs so it is best to perform certain exercises to strengthen the muscle groups in your overarm so that muscle strain does not occur during your physical activities.

Read on more to find about all the different ways to strengthen your muscle groups to prevent tennis elbow:

  1. Staying in good physical shape overall tones your body and strengthens your muscle groups, thus reducing the likelihood of tennis elbow.
  2. It is also important that the physical activities, which are performed by you are done using proper technique as otherwise undue strain might cause unnecessary discomfort and pain.
  3. You should try strengthening the muscles in your shoulder, arm and upper back to reduce the stress your elbow undergoes during physical activity.
  4. Using a counterforce brace for activities, which include twisting or grasping of the arm can also help. The use of a counterforce brace is to distribute the pressure throughout the arm, which reduces the stress on the elbow. The brace is highly recommended for people who are likely to develop tennis elbow. One should consult a doctor before opting for a counter brace. 

However, it is not a substitute for rehab exercises. If repeated arm movements or certain physical activities are causing discomfort or pain in the elbow region, check for alternative ways of performing the task. If you have taken up tennis, cricket or golf as a sport, it is highly recommended that you take proper lessons in technique as these sports involve twisting and grasping your arm, which can cause injuries if you do not follow proper techniques. Also keep in mind to choose sports equipments which are at par with your physical fitness, flexibility and strength.

For daily activities, take a note of the activities, which involve putting stress on your elbows. In such instances follow techniques or different ways to perform the tasks, which will put minimum stress or pressure on your elbows. Also, apart from using the technique one has to stay fit, for which getting regular body health checkup is very important.

This is a general strain due to excessive walking or standing and for this you can follow these measures: one keep a pillow right under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. One time you can do hot water fermentation that would help to reduce the muscle strain.

Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e xray of the affected part. Anyway you may try sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Hello, I would like to know the onset of pain, is it associated with any injury etc. Also let me know if there is any neck pain which is associated . You will have to get some tests done to establish a diagnosis. An appropriate treatment can be started after that.

The knee is one of the principal weight bearing joints in the body and is subject to much wear and tear in an averagely active person. If your work involves a great deal of bending or squatting, the risk of damage to the knee through overuse and/or injury is increased. Is the knee painful most of the time? A damaged cartillage, as a result of a sudden twisting or turing of the knee, may cause such symptoms, This type of injury is particularly likely in athletes or those  whose work involves repeated twisting and staining of the knee. Is your knee hot, swollen and very painful to touch? Gout, in which excess uric acid accumulates in the bloodstream and crystals to form in the joints, is a possible cause of such symptoms. Another possibility is an acute infection of the knee. Has your knee been troubling you for several months or years? Oeteoarthritis, as a result of wear and tear on the knee is a possible cause of such pain, especialy if you are over 50, or if you have regularly overused the joint at work or playing sports. I am 23 years old. For the last two months i've been suffering from pain behind my knee whenever I walk continuosly for sometime. It gets difficult to fully bend my knees as it hurts (the back of my knee). The orthopedic I consulted said that its due to a weight issue. But now I am in a bit of a predicament as I cannot jog or walk to lose weight. I am 6ft and weigh 86 kg. Please reply. ?

You must lose some weight weight reduction can not be done over night. You have to take it as a way of life. Do diet control. No sugar in tea, coffee, milk etc. No sweets take small frequent feeds. When you get used to it, skip one meal. You should do non weight bearing yoga exercises. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

It looks like you are anaemic. That's the reason your body becomes tired though you had good sleep during the night. The pain in the shoulder and back shows that your muscles become too tired especially in the area of the body where you get maximum body weight (ie. Back) and the shoulder which moves excessively during the day for any activity which we do with our hand. If the pain subsides after the day starts ie. Once your metabolic activity starts in the body then you become alright, so you can take bath in good warm water which would help you to break the tiredness. And also you can check with your calcium & vitamin levels in your body by consulting a general physician.
