I am diabetic. (sugar after meal around 200 without taking any medicine) my age is 43 years. I am also suffering from piles. I am feeling something in my anus. And also swelling in anus. I have pain during passing stools. Now a days I am taking two Arshhar capsules twice on daily. I feel better after taking arshhar but not cure. I want permanent solution. Please advice.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, you have diabetes t2 and probably hemrrhoids (piles). If piles are trouble some, then surgical treatment is the only option. More importantly your diabetes needs to be treated with appropriate medication either oral anti diabetes drugs or insulin injection. With a pp level of 200 mg it not good to leave it untreated. This my sicere advise to you.

I am 59 years old and diabetic since last 2 years, my blood sugar readings are 241 BBF & 289 PD, I have tried alopathy as well as Ayurved, but the readings are not coming down even after following the recommended medication, exercise and diet plans. What could be going wrong? I work in a highly challenging and high pressure environment and have also have to commute in crowded trains. Please advise.

There is no reason why your blood sugar cannot be controlled. You've been having DM since just 2 years. There needs to be a concerted attempt to adjust your diet, exercise and take the right medicines. You should consult your physician regularly.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Mr Saurav, Hypothyroidism, is a thyroxine hormone deficiency condition, where thyroid gland is not producing enough hormone. This is an important hormone required for development and functioning of brain, plus most of the other important metabolic activities of the body. So it has to be supplemented from outside as thyroxine tablets. This has to on for Life Time. There is no option.

I am 37 year old, my weight is 100 kg. How to lose weight without exercise, what should I do. BP- OK Sugar- OK (Non diabetic)

MBBS, Diploma In Dermatology And Venerology And Leprosy (DDVL)
Dermatologist, Raigarh
WEIGHT 1. Whole-grain bread. Research shows that people who follow a weight-loss program incorporating whole-grain breads, cereals, and other foods lose more body fat from the abdominal area than those who eat only refined-grain foods, like white bread and rice. 2. Low-fat milk and yogurt. Scientists have found that the more calcium in fat cells, the more fat those cells will burn. In one study, two groups of overweight mice were put on a restricted-calorie diet, but one also got calcium supplements. The no-calcium mice lost 8 percent of their body fat, compared to 42 percent among the mice that did get calcium. 3. Lean protein. Good sources of protein, such as lean meats, eggs, and beans, help keep your blood sugar stable. The result youll feel full longer and get a boost in energy and that will help you burn more belly fat. Consult me in private for detailed treatment and to ascertain your personality symptomatically.

Sir my TSH is 0.04. So what I have problem and how it can be controlled. And my AST/SGOT is 336 and ALT/SGPT is 527 what I have do.

MBBS
General Physician, Bangalore
Is it 0.04 or 0.4? If 0.4, its normal. If 0.04, you might be having hyperthyroidism and in hyperthyroidism liver enzymes tend to go high. Controlling thyroid overactivity will calm the liver too. Please see your GP. Get your cardiac status checked too. Keep an observation of the symptoms that you could be having like yellowish discolouration of the skin mainly the white part of eye. Any distension of abdomen. Too high pulse rate or bp or feeling your own heart beat is not normal. For now, decrease your iodine intake which comes from salt, egg, milk and milk products etc. Eat a lot of cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, spinach etc. Take multivitamin supplements especially vitamin B and D. Also try to take omega 3 fatty acids and minerals like zinc as much as possible. Wish you good health.

MBBS

Hi lybrate-user, normal range is in fasting 90mg/do and post lunch120mg/dl. But as the fluctuations are common in this you need to do monthly once that will be sufficient. Go for hba1c test to know accurately.

General Physician,
To prescribe medicines and diet you ask privately. For confidentiality. Many factors contribute to hyperuricemia, including: genetics, insulin resistance, hypertension, renal insufficiency, obesity, diet, use of diuretics, and consumption of alcoholic beverages.of these, alcohol consumption is the most important. causes of hyperuricemia can be classified into three functional types: increased production of uric acid, decreased excretion of uric acid, and mixed type. Causes of increased production include high levels of purine in the diet and increased purine metabolism. Causes of decreased excretion include kidney disease, certain drugs, and competition for excretion between uric acid and other molecules. Mixed causes include high levels of alcohol and/or fructose in the diet, and starvation.

I had a thyroid test as it was suspected and in first test I found that positive with TSH count 10.03 ulu\ml. Please suggest what should I do as my condition physically is not so good?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
With tsh level 10.03 mil unit/ml, doctor must have already suggested the treatment with thyroxine tablets, dosage depends on weight and tsh levels. Please start the same and keep checking thyroid levels periodically to see the dosage is enough or needs to be increased. Along with that exercise regularly to avoid gaining weight. Also avoid soya and soya containing foods, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, mustard, radish, peanuts and coffee. Increase consumption of green leafy vegetables, salads, fruits and use whole grain flour for making roti and chapati.

I have hypothyroidism take medicine 100 electrocine I have no childrens thats effected 4 pregnancy. Please tell.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Hi, if you are on treatment for hypothyroidism, then tsh levels should be around 3 to 4 milli units / l and if you want to get conception then tsh levels should be 0.1 to 2.0 milli units/l and through out pregnancy again the levels have to be around 2 milli units only. If tsh levels go higher, fetal growth is affected, miscarriages may occur, over all pregnancy out comes are bad. So please keep that in mind and then plan for pregnancy. Thanks for the question.

Diabetes - Prevent It As There Is No Cure.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Diabetes - Prevent It As There Is No Cure.

The dreaded diabetes is best treated by preventing it. Since we have not found a cure, that is yet.

The best prevention for diabetes is to have a proper diet as per your genetic family pattern and an active life.

Everyone has a family tradition of cooking and choice of food. Inherently our body is prone to accept and digest these foods better than newly acquired food and eating patterns. So stick to your way of eating and eat in short intervals and avoid man made foods.

Since diabetes is all about problems with insulin - either no production or less production or no utilisation, it is best to help the body in reducing the load on insulin. Activity helps in burning carbs and thereby reducing work to be done by insulin.

Go ahead. Eat well and stay active to keep away diabetes!

I am hypothyroid I want permanent solution I am depressed with use of eltroxin. Can you pls subscribe me permanent solution.

MBBS, MD
Endocrinologist, Delhi
There is nothing like permanent treatment of hypothyroid .In this problem thyroid gland secretes less than normal thyroid hormone and that you have to take in the form of pill. Accept the problem and be happy. Get your TSH test done regularly and adjust the requirement of Eltroxin under the supervision of you doctor. Depression may be part of hypothyroidism also and becomes alright with proper control.
