Hello, you are required to start taking the tablet at least three days before your period is due and to continue taking it for the duration that you would like to delay your period. It is recommended that norethisterone 5 mg tablets should be taken to delay your period for a maximum of 17 days. It is perfectly safe to delay your period for this amount of time. After you stop taking the tablets, your period is likely to start after two or three days, however the time scale may be different for every individual. This dose of norethisterone is not recommended for prolonged use, as it can cause side-effects and affect your hormone balance.

How to deal with Placental Insufficiency?

MBBS, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology , Diploma in General Nutrition
Gynaecologist, Delhi
How to deal with Placental Insufficiency?

It is a well-known fact that the placenta is one of the most important organs related to pregnancy. However, it can also be said that when there is not enough placenta, the stage is set for a lot of complications.

This sort of condition goes by a variety of names. Among them are placental insufficiency, which is most commonly used, placental dysfunction as well as uteroplacental vascular insufficiency, which sounds like a mouthful to pronounce!

The condition refers to the case where the blood supply itself is not large enough. The placenta is the key connection, which exists between the mother and the developing child. By making use of this connection, the mother can transfer nutrients and oxygen to the child for it to develop in a sufficient manner.

Taking this into account, it can be imagined what a ruinous impact the shortage of these nutrients and even basic oxygen can have on the baby. In fact, there is a 1 in 300 chance of there being placental insufficiency for a woman who is expecting a baby.

What causes placental insufficiency?

Complications such as placental insufficiency are caused in a general sense, by some lifestyle bad habits such as smoking and the consumption of drugs. However, it also depends on the health of the mother when she conceives. Some women are already suffering from diseases, such as diabetes and chronic high blood pressure as well as disorders which relate to the clotting of blood when they get pregnant.

What next?

A case of placental insufficiency cannot be cured fully but the good news is that a lot can be done by the way of medication and practices to try to reduce the ill effects it has on the development of a baby. It can be said crucial for this purpose that the condition of placental insufficiency is detected well in advance of the expected date of delivery. When the case is such that there is a serious chance that the baby may be delivered prematurely, it is very important that a doctor is consulted.

The course of medicine, which is likely to be suggested is the administration of steroids by a qualified medical professional to the mother who is expecting a baby. The reason why this is done is so that the steroids can transfer from the mother to the developing child by making use of the placenta and can work to strengthen the lungs of the baby. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a pediatrician and ask a free question.

Hello, if at 8 weeks and 3 days there is still no metal pole and the gestational sac is empty then this is a chemical pregnancy or simply failed pregnancy. Metal pole generally appears by 6-7 weeks. So you may discuss with your physician and contemplate medical termination of pregnancy, regards.

Integrative medicine is possibly the only real solution for conditions like crohn' s. It will help her get off her medications, return to health, and conceive safely.

Check out whether she is on calcium and vit e supplements. They can help to reduce pain if not already on them. Also check for vit d status. Deficiency can cause this.

My wife had some alcohol last night (not on very heavy side). But it was the first time in past 2 months. We are planning our first baby. So do we need to wait for planning after her last night consumption?

There is no risk involved in planning a baby after having alcohol. Only if woman drinks more than 90 ml alcohol per day then only it has minute risk of baby developing fetal alcohol syndrome. Alcohol during pregnancy is usually to be avoided as after getting drunk she is at risk of getting herslf injured and her baby also.

Hello, Your daughter is 50yrs. old, she might be approaching menopause. Is she on calcium and iron supplements? Has she gone to a gynaecologist? Any investigatons done so far? Share the reports with me for proper diagnosis and treatment. Diet: - Calcium is a mineral associated with building healthy bones and teeth. However, it may have some applications in minimizing the harmful effects of menstrual cramping. So,increase your intake by eating low-fat dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese or green leafy vegetables. - Your body uses vitamin B-6 to manufacture new red blood cells. When you lose red blood cells via menorrhagia, your body will need more to build new cells. Also, vitamin B-6 is required for your blood sugar to stay at healthy levels. This can help prevent menstrual cramping-related mood swings and fatigue. Vitamin B-6 is found in fortified cereals, bananas, spinach, sunflower seeds, avocados, tomato juice and salmon. - Just as foods can help reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramping and bleeding, foods can aggravate your symptoms. This includes eating excessive amounts of sugar -- such as cakes, cookies and pies. These are known to contribute to water retention, which make you feel bloated and uncomfortable. High-salt content foods -- french fries, pizza and other fried foods --- can also contribute to bloating. Caffeine-containing beverages like tea and coffee should be avoided as they can contribute to headaches, mood swings and trouble sleeping. - If you're craving chocolate, make sure it's over 70 per cent cocoa. This bittersweet treat will help you relax your muscles. - We all know fluids are essential when your body is cramping or bloating. Drinking two to three litres of water during your period is essential. - Tea is an easy way to replace your caffeine craving. Green tea to soothe cramps. now, even though green tea contains caffeine, try decaffeinated green tea instead — but be aware, you may lose some health benefits with a decaf version. Caffeine is another no-no. Drinking lots of coffee or pop during your period can increase higher levels of tension and anxiety. - Avoid anything that can damage your liver should be off the list. So, avoid alcohol. - Red meat, Smart says, is also know to cause stomach upsets and cramps. Medications: Give her homoeopathic medicines which are very safe to take: Five Phos. and Alfaalfa Tonic - thrice daily for 1 month.

Does the size of boobs increases after having sex and does any other noticeable changes occur in the body looks?

Does the size of boobs increases after having sex and does any other noticeable changes occur in the body looks?
Hello- This is one of the most common sex-related myths that people seem to have. While many women find squeezing and pressing boobs arousing, there’s absolutely no data to suggest that they can grow bigger with pressing or squeezing. The way to protect your breasts are mostly to stay at the correct weight and stay fit. Being overweight, and repeated cycles of diet cause great damage to your breasts. Also wear good fitting bras. A good bra will support your breasts well, prevent them from moving around too much, not squeeze them and make you feel sexy.

Hello sir/madam my sister is pregnant from 2 month. But she has type-2 diabetes with now blood sugar level is 135 mg/...
Hello, firstly get her to see a gynaec right away to confirm the pregnancy. Who wud then refer her to any endocrinologist for her sugars and thyroid levels. She wud probably be asked to stop sitagliptin as itz unsafe in pregnancy but please do this only after seeing the doctor as he wud put you on alternative meds. Her thyroid wud be checked again. But please visit the doctors as therez a risk to the baby also with this sugar level and meds.

HI Manoj, You have to avoid intercourse in first and last trimester. ie., it is safe to have sex from 4th month to 7th month. Classic Missionary is Ok.
